~blushes~ I guess I'm just a casual fan. I've seen the movies and read the books once but they were a bit long for me. I don't know @half@ the things you lords and ladies seem to know.  I might be a little out of my league  ~bites lip~

well I was kinda of wondering about .. can't believe I've forget her name!.. Arwen? Liv Tylor ~shakes head~ oh dear. Anyway I don't remember that character being very combaty in the books but in the first movie she's rather gung ho.

well actually Arwen in the first film took the place of another elf called Glorfindel. the reason stated for this departure formt he books was that they wanted to give Arwen a more prominent role throughout the series seeing as she would become the heroes wife. Also to have a character (Glorfindel) who only appeared briefly would confuse Non-Tolkien watchers.

~cocks head~ sounds silly to me. There were plenty of characters that were barely in it.  Directors are weird !

I know. I also think they felt they had to have a female main character so as to attract female watchers who were not already Tokien fans.

I have seen the trilogy. I read The Hobbit and had all good intentions of then reading LOTR, however it is still sitting upon my bookshelf untouched...one of these days...
I quite enjoyed The Hobbit  :)

Threw you the obvious and you flew with it on your back. Difficult not to feel a little bit disappointed and passed over when I've looked right through to see you naked and oblivious and you don't see me. But i threw you the obvious just to see if there's more behind the eyes of a fallen angel, the eyes of a tragedy. Here i am expecting just a little bit too much from the wounded. But i see through it all and see you. So i threw you the obvious to see what occurs behind the eyes of a fallen angel, eyes of a tragedy. Oh well. Apparently nothing. You don't see me. You don't see me at all.

Good ideas Lessa.
I considered taking it to the gym with me to read while on the treadmill, but I will have to see how that goes, it may be a bit too bulky...
Only takes me 10 minutes to drive to work and only have half an hour for lunch, in which time I go home!  Hmmm small towns...  ::)

First read LOTR in 1968. Still my favorite book!

« #86 : October 28, 2006, 12:18:19 PM »

My experience with LOTR the book is that once you start it, you'll FIND time to read it!

I don't demand perfection - I will settle for excellence.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.
It's better to be old than cold.
There's more sex between the ears than between the thighs.
Two great myths of our time:
1. Everything called 'natural' is good for you.
2. Everything you read on the Web must be true.

I can definitely agree with that!  :D

I first saw the films at the movies, then bought the EEs and am now reading the books.  I'm completely hooked on the books now.

Hmmm....somehow I don't think it was the FEMALE fans they wanted to attract!  LOL, after all there's plenty of eye candy for us ladies.  ;)
