Come walk the shadows of stories with me...

« #60 : July 12, 2004, 01:55:43 AM »

Thanks Waelith - I was inspired by the Asasain (sp?) Trilogy by Robin Hobb - how Fitz is paralysed by the fear of a repeated attack on him.

I've not been on for a while so there are a few here...

I have to be with people
Near them,
Busy,
I can't afford to be alone,
To let the happy lie drop.

I'm afraid,
And yet,
Afraid to be afraid.
As though to admit my fear is to admit defeat.

And I will never do that.
Just knowing you want to keep fighting,
Keeps me going.

I'll not give up,
Give me the strength to be strong for you,
And we'll make it,
Together.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before I go to sleep I hear the rain on my tent,
Pitter-pattering onto the shiny domed walls.
Inside cocooned in my sleeping bag,
Reading a tatty paper back by the warm glow of the torch,
It's almost like being back in the womb,
Cut off from all outside.
I wake early,
At first light,
And step out into an unfinished world.
Dull green grass is wet between my toes,
Water still beading on my tent from the rain.
The sky is colourless,
A huge space,
Filled for now with damp writhing fog,
Hiding the new-born creations from my too-early eyes.
A mere half hour later,
The time for a hot shower and scrub up,
When I emerge once more,
The fogs have peeled back,
Letting the new sun - still testing his strength -
Shine down on emerald grass,
Make the dew and rain glitter like diamonds.
Trees rustke their leaves in greeting,
Birds sing their triumphant return,
Rejoicing,
That day has followed night once again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I know I should have been working,
Exams are important,
You told me,
As we agreed very maturely,
To not meet until they were over.

I know I agreed,
But today something happened inside me.
I couldn't concentrate on my notes,
The exam of the morning forgotten already.

I just wanted to see you,
Hear your voice on the phone.
I just wanted to run up to you,
Give you a great big kiss,
Feel your arms strong around me.

But as I agreed,
I'll sit here and wait,
Thinking of you,
Wishing I was with you.
Until tomorrow my love,
Until tomorrow.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Moonlight silvers pale smooth skin,
Dappled through the oak boughs.
Dark grasses cushion them,
Clover sends sweet scents into the air.
Here, on top of the world,
The lights of town before them,
The soft darkness of the fields behind,
Two bodies entwine.
They dance the oldest dance,
Under the moon's pearly gaze,
Lying on the grasses of Mother Earth,
Beneath the wise old spreading oak.
Their dance is to the ancient rhythms,
The beating heart of the Earth,
Pulses through them,
As they celebrate their part in creation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sea and sky stretch to meet horizon,
And tough,
Merging seamlessly into a soft blur.
Clouds gather and frown down upon the cliff,
An iron lid that traps nothing.

Up here the senses spread and flow away,
Cares and worries,
Every thought is swept from you,
By the same wind that staels your breath,
And reddens your cheeks.
Up here there is space to simply be,
In peace and at one with yourself.
Free.

Deep within us we know the Truth, the only and the all. Yet did we know we had ths knowledge within us, our minds would not be able to cope, and so we recognise the fragments we see, and each call them by a different name. Yet it is all the same, one Truth..

That was really good Is' ;)

So close are your eyes
So depriven

Lonesome fears
Subbornly hidden

I stare into sundering pools
And Saline drops

These luminous cheeks
That clear stones dot

Starlight floods
Stared back into oceans
Siliently stilling
The gentle comotion

Our friends speak out in our defense.
Pay ten deaf ears for two months rent.
We burn their gallows they erect,
and cut the nooses they tie for our necks.

hidden behind the curtain,
trying to peep past,
is something good i'm certain,
to break the shadow that was cast.
hope could be the light,
if only given the chance,
it could win the fight,
so from behind the curtain don't just glance

Thanks Lilla! Yours was good too - as was yours destiny! ;D

I went to the Festival at the Edge last weekend - its a storytelling festival not music - although there was some... anyway - came back with this...

Flickering yellow firelight,
Picks out the circle of faces,
Flushed by the heat.
Their eyes gaze into the flames,
But their minds soar up,
Up, far up on a single spark,
To where the ice-fire stars keep their vigil.

Long ages they keep watch,
From the arching heavens,
Whilst far below,
Around pools of life and warmth,
Mortals gather,
And send up their bright passions to the cold night sky.

Mugs of steaming drink are passed round,
Laughter,
Music,
Keeps the chill at bay.
The plaintive lament of pipes,
A furious skirl on the fiddle,
Accompany wild myths and legends,
Food for dreams.

Firelight in the hollow flickers,
Seducing sleepy children to close their eyes,
Surrender to the whim of imagination,
Whilst adults talk on,
Laughing and singing,
Their merriment soaring to warm the stars.

Deep within us we know the Truth, the only and the all. Yet did we know we had ths knowledge within us, our minds would not be able to cope, and so we recognise the fragments we see, and each call them by a different name. Yet it is all the same, one Truth..

whats the difference?

why do we all want perfection?
we all want that feeling of admiration,
we all want that kind of love,
followed by the perfect wedding with white doves.
we want to be belonged to,
that way of life we want to do,
desire builds up inside,
something we somethimes can't hide.
hope takes over our beating hearts,
we feel lust, our eyes dart,
we want to show grace and charm,
that sence of balanced calm.
but in the end the pressure takes me,
i've tried to be all i can be,
i fell and i kept falling,
and you just kept calling.
you crushed me in my downward spiral,
i'm a broken shell, not the same gal,
if you had the chance to do it all again,
would you be different than the other men.

Okay here is one of my very short poems, namely as I couldn't think of a second verse.
Swords flash out of there sheaths,
Blades gleam in the light,
The foe draws nigh,
Its time to fight,
not knowing who will live and die.

i can see you!

« #68 : July 30, 2004, 12:56:10 AM »

The sun is warm
the sky unusually clear
and your skin
soft, warm to my touch,

Like a cold pearl drowning, I am lost

as I tuck my arm through yours.
I murmur something,
you smile, laugh a little,
as though I am highly amusing,

falling through the waves of your indifference;

the smile does not reach your eyes.
I do not mind.
It is enough to be with you,
to feel you, smell you,

if I were to melt suddenly like smoke from your cigarette

though it's clear that I am unrequited,
that I am alone.
The rockpools reflect the sunshine,
the glitter sparkling off the water's surface

Would you notice?

like so many diamonds,
concealing a deep well of emotion -
surprising indeed
for such superficial appearances.
I will laugh, yes, and return with you,
back to the house of my torment.

Would you care?

Where is the voice that taught me
whatever was right or wrong
A voice so loving and tender
A voice so gentle and strong

Where are the arms that held me
through all the sleepless nights
the arms so strong and loving
the arms that held me tight

Where is the sweet laughter of
the man i loved so dear
The man i called my daddy
the man no longer here

Where ever the man i'll here his voice
and see his smiling face
for though he's died in my heart
he'll always have his place

Meditation

Breathe, in and out,
Waves shush, back and forth,
A bird flaps, up and down.
Night follows day, turn and turn about.

Align yourself to these rythms,
Deep within life.
Feel your heart beat,
In tune with the song.

The world recedes,
You are left,
Cradled by Mother Earth,
Nurtured by the life force of Nature.

You are stripped,
Of thought and word,
Of all meaning,
You just are.

Now at last,
Your soul can fly.
Free of this earthly body,
That binds it in this world.

Wonders you perceive,
On this journey of light,
Along light,
Among the stars.

Slowly, the rhythms recede,
Leaving you still as one with life,
But separated from the spirit by it -
Adrift in the great web of Time.
Held within the bounds of reality once more.

"Goodbye"

This won't take long to say,
neither will it take long to stay,
all I wanted to say was goodbye,
when the moonlight hits the window,
just say to yourself "goodbye".

This was to come,
It's now gone,
This is the last goodbye i'll ever say to you,
cause your the girl that turned me to stone,
like so many people said in there songs,
I say one in mine.

Your just a lost cause that I waited on,
You left undeserving me,
Just to let you know,
I won't be coming back to you,
Soon in four years,
I'm sorry this unfortunate story happend,
It's just a lost cause for everyone.

Worthless child!

Trapped in this cage,
Trapped in this head,
Feeling no life,
As if i was dead,
Striving for freedom,
Praying for air,
Not to feel empty,
And not to feel bare,
Holding tears back,
No escaping these eyes,
My soul is released,
And my heart dies,
I look back on life,
And i see your face,
I pity you greatly,
A sorrowful case,
I wave goodbye,
From my new hell,
But back in your world,
You still dwell.

« #74 : August 29, 2004, 01:04:29 AM »

I can't write poems but my friend can - only thing is she is too shy to post them on any sites...i think the way she writes them is amazing tell me what you think please?

This one is called Drawing

I’m gonna draw a picture,
A picture with a twist.
I’ll draw it with a razor blade;
I’ll draw it on my wrist.
And if I draw it properly,
 A fountain will appear,
And with this flowing fountain all my pain will disappear.
