the film company NBC, who have recently purchased Universal Studios.... now have their sights set on MGM!! (the people who own the international film rights to the Hobbit!)

Sony were thinking of buying MGM, but their time ran out. BUT! Now also Time Warner are interested in buying MGM!!

Since MGM own the International film rights to the Hobbit, and Time Warner were the ones who backed LOTR... a deal here... could well help to concrete the making of the movie ;D

SOOOoooo Elijah definately wont be playing Bilbo in The Hobbit.... he seems to want Ian Holm to play it!  but also admits he's probably too old now :(

ELIJAH WOOD can't wait for THE LORD OF THE RINGS prequel THE HOBBIT to hit the big screen - despite vowing he won't star in it.

After the runaway success of PETER JACKSON's fantasy trilogy, the New Zealand movie maker immediately revealed plans to bring JRR TOLKIEN's first novel - which focuses on FRODO BAGGINS' older cousin BILBO - to the big screen.

SIR IAN HOLM played Bilbo in The Lord Of The Rings, but at 72 he is far too old to take on the hobbit in his younger years - and Wood couldn't bear playing another hobbit character.

The 23-year-old says, "I hope it gets done - it would be a nice little reminder of that world again.

"I wouldn't want to play Bilbo having already played Frodo - it would be strange for the fans and for me."

And he admits it will be a daunting prospect for any actor to take on: "I don't think you can out do Ian Holm's performance."

"Any actor would be afraid to approach the role after seeing what Ian Holm did with it as it truly is perfect."

I must admit, i first thought that Ian Holm was a strange choice for the hobbit, but when he was on the big screen, i thought that he was made for the part! The tricky part now is finding someone to replace him  :-\

i admit, apart from Mckellen i hadn't heard of a single one of the cast from LOTR, or did the Matrix come out befote it? it'd be hard putting another actor in Holm's boots. He has this aura aroundd him that makes him PERFECT for a hobbit. Come on even at 131 he STILL has that excited sound in his voice that says he'll go on a adventure.

Well I think elijah put it the way i would by saying it would be a nice reminder, and also a greater depth to the world of tolkien to movie goers.

I defenetely cant wait to hear what happens.

I know I understand what your saying but the petition and letters will be forwarded on to the film makers to show that the people who go to see the films would like to see The Hobbit made thus prompting them (hopefully) to get there bums into gear about it all

cannot hurt to try can it ;D

I've seen the cartoon movie of The Hobbit and i say that it wasn't at all any good!   >:( If he made an ACTUAL movie of it, it would probably be really good.. I mean all they would need are people to play the parts.
