I think the battle of five armies would be great!  They could also do brilliant stuff with the battle with Smaug and how he dies.  The trolls as well, interesting to see how they do them.  I can't wait for the film, wether it has been confirmed or not...

Well considering, King Kong is not likely to be released until mid to late 2005, then that would mean either Peter Jackson won't be making The Hobbit, or he's gonna make it in like 6 months.

*sigh*

How many times does it have to be stated that:

No one studio has the rights to produce a film of The Hobbit as yet.
The rights issue *may* NEVER be sorted
if Peter jackson is going to make the film once the rights have been gained, filming wouldn't start until VERY LATE 2005 at the very earliest, but more likely 2006.
With a lead time of approximately 2 years (at least) to make the film, considering the above the film wouldnt be completed until late 2007 and possibly well into 2008.

i hardly think that peter jackson has already set a date of it's release when he hasn't even got the rights to film it yet :)

There was no point in starting a new topic for this because this one is kind of about future JRR Tolkien films.Do you think they would consider making the Sil? I ain't read it yet so i don't know if it would be mega hard etc.

Though I would love to see that happen, I just think it would be such a huge undertaking that no-one would attempt it. I'd love to be proved wrong though ;)

You should definately read it Goldberry :)

They have a thing these days about making begginings after middle films, you know, like star wars and silence of the lamb trilogy. But i guess it's different in this case, because the hobbit is kind of a completely different story, although it is linked.

The Sil would almost be impossible to make a film of, as basically it isnt a story in it's own right, but more rather a collection of stories and histories. To make it flow into one story would really mean assassinating the book.
