Sitting watching the fellowship on the TV last weekend... (GOD knows why as I have the extended versions myself!!!!!! why IS that?  lol)  anyway, you know, dont you think they got Frodo so completely wrong?  I mean considering it.... he was FAR to young, FAR to pretty and FAR too feminine and really I think changed the feel of the character far too much from the book!

Now to be fair, Gandalf and Aragorn were spot on werent they?  Eowyn, Eomer and Theoden were very good too and all the REST of the Hobbits!  But a blue eyed weakling was NOT what Tolkien wrote about was it!?! 

Anyway, I just thought in the cold light of many years to think about it..... good films yes but they sure got one of the main characters REALLY wrong!

I've always thought that.  I know that hobbits mature later and that Frodo was supposed to have only just come of age in hobbit terms, but I still pictured him as looking older.  Also, although he was inexperienced, I never thought of him as naive, which does come across in the film.

The other character in the film that didn't quite work for me was Denethor.  I always saw him more as Alan Rickman - sophisticated and with a savage, biting wit rather than a savage, biting a sophisticated tomato.

I agree with both those assessments. But on the whole I stillthink they kept to the essence of most of the characters and the storyline

HAHA Anne, yes I couldnt agree more.  Thought he was too much like an old lady although I thought his madness was portrayed really well.

I suppose but what a difference it would have made to have someone with a bit more clout to play Frodo!  Any ideas?

Yeah, I would say someone like Sam only better looking ie the Elven thing going on LOL!

How about Daniel Craig?  I've just spent 10 minutes trying to picture him with curly hair, but I think he'd be a good Frodo.  You could see him as being related to Ian Holm too.

Daniel Craig??!!?? dontcha think he is a big chiselled?!?!!

How about Colin Farrell.... without the facial fuzz!  LOL      the accent could work well too!  Hmmmm... maybe a possibility what do you think?
