I think the limited editions are excellent: they really flesh out the story and the extra scenes are invaluable and are well worth having. I for one
never watch the theatrical editions because the extended editions are so much better (in most respects).
With regards to the bonus features, I'm not really into all that sort of thing, but if you ever make costumes you'll find the galleries invaluable.
The Gollum MTV clip (and a couple of other things) are missing from the European versions of the DVDs, however I did a post on this earlier this year and you can find all the links to the missing easter eggs in
this topic (and I have fixed the broken links).
