American DVDs

Over the last year or so I have been looking round websites about the films (in particular to do with languages) and I see this picture and it'll say next to it, "From TFOTR:EE DVD", and I'd check my DVD and it wasn't there.

I've since found out that Americans got exclusive online content with their DVDs by a company called "InterActual" which everyone else didn't get. It seems to me that some of this stuff is really worth having. This is "some" of the content for TROTK DVD:

• A Journal for the Ages -- Create your own journal, The Lord of the Rings style. Also includes personalized stationery, bookmarks, calendars, desktop images and more.
• Constructing Middle Earth - See and zoom in on the detailed plans for sets constructed for The Lord of the Rings movies. The plans are linked to video clips of the scenes that take place in these sets.
• The Murals of Rivendell -- View the artwork that adorns the walls of Rivendell and read comments by their artist.
• Saruman's Book -- Explore Saruman's book, and view comments by its artist/creator.
• Character Palantir -- View graphically represented information about the characters and how they relate to each other. Includes video clips and printable portraits.
• Cast and Crew Palantir -- Study the discography of the cast and crew and how they relate to each other. Uses an interactive Venn diagram format.
  
  
  
  Apart from the fact I'm annoyed that a) I didn't know about this before, and b) I don't have it, do any of you have this and if so, can you tell me how good this stuff really is - I am very interested.
  
  Is it possible the website could have a gallery of these so other non-Americans can experience this stuff?

I have the R1 FOTR EE, but I got R4 for TTT and ROTK EE

Ill have to take a closer look at them to see what is on them.......

tho if this information is all online.. surely you only need to find out the access codes ? to get onto it yourself ?

[edit] Having read a little more, it seems that inorder for these features to work the DVD installs an Interactive Player onto your computer.. which then becomes the only means of playing the movie on your computer, and since its an inferior player, this is not good!

Also, it has been reported to be sending back information about which DVD you are watching and other info etc... spyware basically...

Not totally sure its worth the hassle!

Yeah you need the Interaction DVD player from what I gather, and that grants you access to all this material.

Hmm... it is definitely spyware?

A lot of language sites have made good use of this Interacton content, in particular, Gwaith i-Phethdain, for instance: Saruman's Book.

There's a good chance this stuff is downloadable somewhere.

That's what I'm hoping for... but where. And of a good enough quality?

my dvd s do not contain such stuff.. and they were shipped from the uk... thus it means that onlt the american ones have that? its not fair if its the case!
