No I don't think it is sad really. I think I would prefer to have all my faculties working properly in old age rather than be a burden to people because I couldn't function.

Of course its sad when people die and many people do not want to be a burden on others or cant cope with indignity that will result from from becoming ill in old age. Aragorn was a mortal and was doomed to die, Arwen made her choice despite knowing that she would outlive him, even though in the book it was only a yr or so

Soirry but this is a discussion about Aragorn in the films and whether he was selfish or not in wanting to die when he still had function of all his faculties.
