We had one of these before, but I thought it would be fun if we tried a new one.
Lets have some good quotes people.
I shall start us off.
'Forgive me, Gandalf'
Who said it.... and when?
-
Was it Legolas wheafter he'd shot at Gandalf thinking it was Saruman in Fangorn?
Lessa
-
Was it Pippin after he looked into the Palantir?
-
Yes, it was Pippin after looking in the Palantir. Well done. Your turn now. :)
-
Cuthien, can you set us a new one please.
-
Can I jump in ???
"Were you not entrusted to protect it?"
-
Sure thing.
"Are all these children yours?" :D
-
Bilbo Baggins to a hobbit at his party
-
Can I jump in ???
"Were you not entrusted to protect it?"
Heh, well done EG... we can go on with yours now then...
"Were you not entrusted to protect it?"
urrr... was that Boromir to Aragorn when they were arguing by the river?
-
Denethor to Faramir about Osgiliath, i'm not sure if it is in TTT in the flashback or after the attack on Osgiliath in ROTK
-
Yeah, I agree with Legendel. Just after Faramir orders the retreat I think. It might have been ROTK though.
-
i think its TTT, when Denethor goes to Osgiliath and Boromir says that Faramir helped him, then Denethor says "with Faramir Osgiliath would be long overrun"
-
Denethor to Faramir about Osgiliath, i'm not sure if it is in TTT in the flashback or after the attack on Osgiliath in ROTK
yes! thats right! well done ;)
-
ok, the next quote is:
"He's not dead"
-
ummm is that Shagrat when he is talking about Frodo ?
-
Pippin talking to Denethor about Faramir, after they brought him up to the White Tree in Gondor, after the battle in Osgiliath
-
Pippin talking to Denethor about Faramir, after they brought him up to the White Tree in Gondor, after the battle in Osgiliath
thats right, your turn.
-
Long ago, when there was a King.
-
umm... is that Treebeard talking to Merry and Pippin? ???
-
nope :)
-
is it Frodo when hilm and Sam are just after the dead marshes, the crossroads? i can't really remember the place, but i think that's it
-
Gandalf to Pippin at Minas Tirith when he's talking bout the cold towers and stuff
-
It sounds Samish to me ... no idea where though. Erm - random guess - when they're trying to get into Mordor.
-
is it Frodo when hilm and Sam are just after the dead marshes, the crossroads? i can't really remember the place, but i think that's it

-
I remember Merry saying that line :), but I can't remember who to or where. :(
-
Aragorn talking to Arwen maybe?
-
You are halfway there Gollum... yes it was Merry.... but when? ;)
-

-
Nope... sorry EG. :P
-
isn't it Frodo at the Shelobs Lair
-
We have established that it was Merry at the moment, but now we need to say where it happened.
-
Talking to Eowyn, saying that he's a Hobbit and knows he can make no difference in the war, but just wants to help his friends. Right before Pelennor Fields in ROTK SEE?
-

http://www.lotruk.com/atthemovies/scripts/returnoftheking37to40.php
Scene 39
My lady. You are fair and brave and have much to live for (She looks at him.) and many who love you. I know it is too late to turn aside. I know there is not much point now in hoping. If I were a knight of Rohan capable of great deeds…but I’m not. I’m a Hobbit. And I know I can’t save Middle Earth. I just want to help my friends; Frodo, Sam, Pippin. More than anything I wish I could see them again. (He smiles up at her.)

"We are Hobbits of the Shire."
-
Thank you.
Uh, I think Frodo said it, but I'm not sure when.

Is it Gimli persuading Gandalf to go through the mountains, through Moria?

Aragorn in TTT at Helms Deep ???

Dont be sorry. Just put in a quote! :P
-
We can’t hold them.
Lessa
-
Faramir's Ranger at Osgiliath (the head one, greyish, forgot his name, Ma-something.)
-
Aragorn In Balin's tomb in FOTR
-

Lessa
-
MADRIL!
-

Lessa
-

-
Damrod at Henneth Annun in FOTR, when they are going to Osgiliath

Firstly it's not even in FOTR, and its not Damrod.

-
No way!
-
oh stop saying no! its very irritating ;) :P
-
What am I supposed to do? Give you a riddle to work out the word I'm gonna say? ::)
-
Isnt it Aragorn? When he sees the beacons lit and runs into the hall at Edoras?
-
The Two Towers, Damrod to Faramir "Osgiliath is under attack. They call for reinforcements"
Faramir has just started talking to Sam and Frodo :)
-
Hmm. You have the right place, but if I give you a link you'll find it wasn't Damrod.
The Forbidden Pool
Faramir is still entranced. A soldier walks in
SOLDIER: Osgiliath is under attack. They call for reinforcements.
SAM: (tearfully) Please. It's such a burden. Will you not help him?
It's SOLDIER but I don't know if it was Damrod. Anyway... Your turn.
-
WEEEY!! Ok....hmm.....
"There is a fell voice on the air."
Quite easy but I couldn't think of a harder one ::) :P
-
Legolas to Gandalf in Fellowship as they are climbing Caradhras, Gandalf replies "it's Saruman!"
-
yeah well easy your go
-
Ok, a bit obscure - "No, I couldn't I really couldn't."
-
Gandalf to Frodo in Bag end
(sorry Tellyn! was just pulling your leg in my frustration! tho I think what I said first time was pretty close to the answer :-\)
-
(It's OK, lol)
Erm. Is it- no. Er... Wasn't it Gandalf speaking to Bilbo, when he was speaking to him while getting cheese or something?
-
It's that obscure that I'm gonna give a clue. Obi-Wan was on the right lines, but with different characters.
-
Gimli, when Eowyn offers him some of that nasty soup she made.
-
Yeah, that's the one, although you only hear him say it in the background.
-
Cuthien! are you going to set us a new challenge ???
-
Hmmm...I always find this game a bit hard because it's difficult to remember a line that few people know! But I'll try...
"See? I even had you fooled."
Okay, that might not be the exact line. I might have some of the words mixed up. But I tried. Apologies ahead of time. :-\ :)
-
Merry to Pippin in TTT when they are captured by the Uruk-Hai
-
Yeah, the line was, "See... Fooled you too." I think.
-
Darn it! You all figured it out...Thought that was more obscure, too... *grumbles*
Alright then, carry on, whoever got it! :D
-
I've been summoned by EG for some reason... *thinks* am I supposed to be 'fried' then, eh? ;) :P  *waits*
-
I think we;re waiting for Legendel to come up with the next quote...
then Mrs Fried Chips you can join in trying to remember where it came from :P
-
awww bugger, lol, that means I have to think :-\ :( :'( *pokes Legendel* hurry up! I know one!
"You shall not pass!"
::) :laugh: (not official, I'm just bored :P )
-
*is hurt by the poking* :o
"I'm gonna tell!"

-
Treebeard to Merry and Pip ???
(dont give up so easily smelly!)
-
I knew it was someone to a hobbit :P and I'm not smelly, Eggy! :o *sniffs* ...perhaps just a little :-\ :[ :P
-
you're all totally wrong :P
-
I know! I know! It was Eomer to Eowyn in ROTK when they were camped and Merry had just gotten his armor.
:D
-
yup, ur turn
-
Okay, let's see.........
"You and what army?"
Again, the quote may not be exactly right...but it probably is a very easy one.
-
the corsairs captain in ROTK, when gimli says "prepare to board" the corsairs start laughing and the captain yells "o yeh, you and what army?" and then Aragorn says "this army" and the dead come out of the hill
-
Yep! 'Tis your turn. :) :D
-
hmmz....
i was thinking about "this fight is done" but thats from ROTK game on gamecube
hmmz....
"Gondor calls for aid"
-
Gandalf.... hmm... Gandalf or Aragorn..
Think I'll go with Gandalf at the meeting after Pip has seen into the Palantir, in the Golden Hall
-
No, I think it is Viggo when the fires are lit and he runs into the hall at Edoras.
-
No, I think it is Viggo when the fires are lit and he runs into the hall at Edoras.
yup, ur turn
-
I thought he said "the fires are lit" :-\

If I were a knight of Rohan capable of great deeds…but I’m not. I’m a Hobbit. And I know I can’t save Middle Earth. I just want to help my friends; Frodo, Sam, Pippin. More than anything I wish I could see them again. (He smiles up at her.)

-
Eomer to the troups at Edoras, before the Rohirrim leave ???
-
Yes. It is just after Eowyn and Merry have their scene in the extended edition.
MERRY: My lady.
EOMER: Prepare to move out!
THEODEN: Make haste. We ride through the night.
A soldier blows a horn. Merry and Eowyn exchange looks. Merry puts down his sandwich and puts on his helmet. He stands up and looks at her. She puts on her helmet too.
EOWYN: To battle
MERRY: To battle
Your turn then EG
-
oh ok... I nearly got it! well the line before ;)
"I would have done, but our numbers were too few."
-
I think it's Faramir speaking to Denethor of the over-running of Osgiliath by the orcs led by Gothmog
-
i think you may be right
-
Yes, me too. ;)
-
Does that mean it's my go then, or do I need to wait for EG to say?
-
I reckon you should go for it Gollum ;)
-
nope :) close.. but nope :)
-
Ok then. In that case, is it Faramir talking to Denethor after troops led by Boromir have just regained control of Osgiliath?

Urucks: Argh! :P
-
Dang, twas only the second guess aswell. I hoped it would last longer. :(
Anyhoo, tis your go now then Legendel.
I don't think Theoden said it, sorry if he did though. I think his shout was just "Death!".
-
yay!!
lets see:
"it's this place"
-
Kind of general, but...Sam to Frodo in Mordor?
-
Sam to Frodo on the stairs of Cirith Ungol-i think thats how its spelt im sure u know wot i mean. Its after sam has a fight with gollum about the lembras bread going missing and frodo has to pull them apart.
-
So who's turn is it now?
-
Legendel hasnt said if anyone is right yet :-\
-
yup, so i guess its Cuthiens turn... as she guessed first
-
"Does she?"
-
ooh, saw that part the other day (I think)
Is it Sam talking to Frodo about Rosie after coming out of the inn (of which the name has slipped my mind at the moment) in FOTR?
-
Yep. 'Tis your turn. :D
-
:D *big grin on face* :D
"He's alive"
-
Sam in Moria to the other members of the fellowship when they think that Frodo is dead after the cave troll has attempted to stab him with that big spear.
-
Afraid not.
-
Pippin to Denethor after he returns from Osgiliath and Denethor assumes him dead
-
Yup.
Your turn.
-
"as you wish! I care not "
-
That's Boromir as he handed over the ring to Frodo, when Aragorn said, "Boromir, give the Ring to Frodo"
-
yep! too easy ::) :D
your turn :D
-
'You must be careful now'
-
This one is hard and has me racking my brains, perhaps Aragorn in fellowship to frodo and the other hobbits at the prancing pony, i know im probably wrong but will keep on the case
-
To me it's something Gandalf would say. Presumeably to Frodo aswell.
I can't place where he'd say it though.
-
Sorry Shieldmaiden, no.
You are getting warm there Gollum. ;)
-
Gandalf to Frodo before he leaves the Shire with the Ring.
-
Nope
-
:P
oh I know when it is!
its Gandalf to Frodo just before they enter the Mines of Moria... as theyre arriving at the Gate to Moria.... Gandalf takes Frodo aside...
-
Yes, you are right.... (from the scripts on the front page)
GANDALF: Frodo, come and help an old man (he puts his arm around Frodo and continues walking) How's your shoulder?
FRODO: (looking up at Gandalf concerned) Better than it was
GANDALF: and the Ring ? (he pauses and Frodo looks up at him) You feel its power growing don't you. I've felt it too. You must be careful now. Evil will be drawn to you from outside the Fellowship and I fear from within. (one of the Fellowship walks past and Gandalf looks up, Frodo looks worried)
FRODO: Who then do I trust ?
Your turn.
-
Gandalf said "you turn" ??? lol!
I dont remember that bit! ;D
"What's in this?"
-
I WIN!!! lol! its so long since I posted this, im having trouble remembering where its from myself ::)
-
Is it Pippin? unwrapping the Palantir? :8o ???
-
It's not Frodo when he's about to go into Shelob's lair is it?
-
nope :)
-
ok then. How about Boromir talking just after hearing the Balrog and when all the little orcs run away?
-
nope :)
-
grrrrrr, I'm running out of ideas now. :(
-
is it where Sam asks Gollum..."What's in this...tunnel"
-
nope :)
-
Ahhhhhh, just remembered...it's when Frodo falls from the rock as he is trying to catch Sams seasoning...he asks Sam..."what's in this" he's refering to the box that Sam keeps his seasoniong in!
-
YEAH!!!!! well done !!!
your turn!
(didnt think anyone was going to get that! lol)
-
"Here's a pretty thing"
-
Is that Boromir when he picks the Ring up out of the snow?
-
Bilbo when giving the mithril vest to Frodo?
-
yep Gollum, your turn :D
-
"Stop it!"
-
is it Sam to Gollum...when Gollum is ripping up those poor fluffy bunnies...Sam tells Gollum he'll make Frodo sick? just guessing now!
-
nope
... at least, it wasn't what I was thinking of
-
is it Sam to Faramir...when Faramir finds out that Frodo has the ring of power and confronts him.
-
Afraid not :(
-
Frodo to Sam when Sam is beating Gollum up after hearing he's intending on killing them when they are sleeping next to that pool/lake
-
nope
-
Pippin when he is looking in the Palantir ???
-
Not that either
-
Blimey Gollum, how many times do people say 'stop it'...
-
I'm starting to think that there's an endless supply of them.
If you want a hint, the one who said it has been mentioned already.
-
That's half the cast then ??? give us a better clue...pleeeaassssssssssssssseeeeeeeeee :-*
-
oh go on then. Twas a hobbit
*looks back over posts
hehehe, only hobbits have been mentioned ::) :P
-
Was it Frodo? (THIS is a hard one Gollum) ::)
-
Not Frodo.
This does seem to have gone on for a while so I'll tell you who it is.
You just tell me who to and when
Twas ............. Pippin
-
Pippin to the palantir/Sauron ???
-
nope :(
-
tell us what film then at least we only have to watch 4 hours worth ???
-
Is it Pippin in the Rath Dinen - The Silent Street when he is trying to stop Denethor?
Edit: oops! wrong house! :P
-
Wasn't it the House of Ecthelion, not Healing?
-
not that either. :(
ok then jacky, twas in The Two Towers. I hope that helps you
-
ta beaut...just got to dig it out and watch it now then :P
-
righty-ho, i'll be waiting :D
-
it has just dawned on me hopefully im rite-is it when pippin and merry have been taken by the orcs and are travelling across the plains of rohan and pippin says that merry(his friend ) is sick and he needs water and the orcs give him "medicine" which turns out to be blood of some sort and merry kinda chokes on it and pippin says stop it.
-
yep, that's the one
corr blimey, that one went on for a while
-
Yeah that did go on for a long time but thats what makes the game fun.
Time for the next one:
"I have seen it"
-
I'm not overrly sure of this, but is it Saruman talking of the forces of Mordor after having looked into the palantir?
-
Or Denethor talking to Gandalf when he arrives at Minas Tirith with Pippin?
-
well done gollum well that one didnt go on for very long!
-
Sorry about the delay, forgot to find another one
"For the Shire"
-
Not a detailed answer im afraid-is it Sam in ROTK after Frodo has been taken to the tower and Sam attacks the orcs and has a whole list of who the attacks are for?
-
Afraid not :(
-
hmm interesting i shall have to put my thinking cap on ???
-
its Merry or Pip as they charge at the Black Gates.... Im going for Merry
-
not that either.
-
FOTR when the Uruk Hai attack boromir ??? Merry again
-
nope :(
-
ok
is this a phrase said on its own ? or as the end of a sentence ???
-
It's a whole sentence, but there's more to the character's line than just this quote.
It's the first part of the line under question.
-
Would a clue help?
-
i think it mite because the only one i could think of was the one i posted granted i havent seen the films for a while but i can ususlly memorise the entire script after watching a film about 3 or 4 times
-
Sam ? attacking Shelob ???
-
Not that either.
Right, a clue ..... twas in the fellowship of the ring.
-
hmm.............................thinks who could have posiibly said it and when without looking at the script
-
someone at Bilbo's party?
-
Well, the person who said it was at Bilbo's party, but it wasn't said then.
-
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!
ok then, must have been in Bree. um, "wracks brain as to who" ....... Sam ???
-
Not at Bree. Twas further away from the Shire than that.
-
well that just leaves fighting the Uruk hai...
hmmm... was it Merry when they decided to divert the Uruk Hai from Frodo and jumped out in front of them ?
-
not Merry, and not then.
-
Sam at weathertop, when he attacks the WitchKing or was that already guesses (lost track of it :8o )
-
nope, not Sam. :(
And it's later on than that.
-
gandalf at some point in the mines of moria (im wrong i just know it)
-
sorry, not that either.
Tis a hobbit.
-
i give up
-
Tis somewhere around where the fellowship spot the Crebain from Dunland.
Does that help?
-
Is it Pippin then, when they are practising their swordmanship with Boromir?
-
YAY!!! Tis indeed Beleriel.
At last, someone got it.
Your turn then.
-
:b:
-
hehe YAY!
now.... let me seeeee....
I could only stand there waiting.
-
Eowyn in ROTK EE to aragorn when she has a dream in Rohan?
-
Yes, you are right.
Ok so it was too easy. Im sorry. :P
Your turn.
-
ooh i didnt remember that one either... old.. Im getting old :(
COME ON then... next quote?
-
sorry guys-i havent got the net yet in uni pad and been so busy kept forgetting to come on. Anyway on with the next quote:
"I told you"
-
Blimey! THAT could be anywhere! How about a clue?
-
At some point in ROTK
-
Merry to Pippin in ROTK after pip looks into the palantir of Saruman
-
One of the orcs to the other orcs trooping through Mordor, when Frodo and Sam are disguised as orcs. Just before they are roped into the troops
-
I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sorry guys but i think my sleep deprivation may have made me type the wrong clue-its in TTT, once again very sorry i promise i wont do it again.
-
::)
Gollum/Smeagol perhaps when being questioned by Faramir?
-
nope not the one im thinking of
-
Was it a Hobbit speaking?
-
Grima ? to the Rohan soldiers,
"I told you to take his staff" ?
-
Grima ? to the Rohan soldiers,
"I told you to take his staff" ?
Well done your turn
-
Grima ? to the Rohan soldiers,
"I told you to take his staff" ?
Well done your turn
I was going to say that bu up there you said, "At some point in ROTK". Grrr.
-
:o you slowing up Mith :o ;)
"You'll be alright"
-
I think that may be Bilbo at his party talking to Frodo, when he tells him he is very selfish.
-
yeah... that conversation, but when he;s explaining to Frodo why he "adopted" him
your turn
-
'What did he say?'
-
Pippin to Merry after Aragorn asked the Hobbits what they were doing, on their way to Rivendell, when the hobbits had stopped to prepare Breakfast. And Pippin had asked, What about second breakfast, luncheon, afternoon tea...
-
ummm nope sorry!
-
Frodo asking about what the Gaffer said to Sam?
-
I think it was Frodo asking Sam about what Gandalf said, followed by "'Don't you lose him, Samwise Gamgee.' And I don't mean to.", and then Pippin and Merry run into them.
-
Stupid brain, that's what I meant. Gaffer Gamgee, Gandalf, what's the difference? ::) :[
-
well done Gollum and Mith.
Your turn. :)
-
Your go Mith. You actually wrote down what you meant.
-
Thanks Gollum and Bel. :D
My quote is (and I don't want to disappoint you as I know I have a reputation for picking ones which aren't that easy), "Quick!".
-
I have a feeling it's in FOTR and said by a hobbit. Bilbo and Frodo hiding from the Sackville Baggins's?
-
Frodo shouting to the other hobbits to "get off the road" ! FOTR
-
gollum to sam and frodo in rotk "quick they will see"?
-
Gandalf in the mines running from the orcs?
-
Nope, no, nah and nooooo. :D
-
whne they are gonna hide from the Crebain?
-
Pippin trying to get Frodo to hide with him and Merry, just before he runs off towards the boats in FOTR.
-
~sigh~ Nooo...
-
There's just sooo many places where someone says quick!!
-
That's why I picked it, obviously. :P
-
Indeed.
Gandalf ushering the fellowship through the mines of Moria?
-
Faramir to his soldiers when the Orcs attack Osgiliath
-
aragorn in TTT in Fangorn Forest when they think saruman is approaching "we must be quick"
-
or possibly in ROTK when Faramir returns after being wounded and the guy says quick hurry when they are approaching the citadel and denethor
-
*waves at Mithrandir*
so have we got it yet ???
-
or possibly in ROTK when Faramir returns after being wounded and the guy says quick hurry when they are approaching the citadel and denethor
That's the one! Well done, your go!
-

"that's mine"
-

-
Theoden at the battle of the Pelennor Fields

'Come back!'
-
Sam to Frodo in ROTK when they are at Minas Morgul when Frodo starts to walk to Minas Morgul
-
No, I've meant another 'come back!' :)
-
I should have rather said '...come back!'
-
Aragorn at the paths of the dead?
-
No, it's not him
-
Gandalf... to Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli in Fangorn
".. and I come back to you now..."
-
Nope, it's not Gandalf either
-
Frodo to Gollum in Rotk when he has entered Shelobs Lair

-
hmmz, i'm really stuck on this one...
and I don't get the hint eitherhint :P
-
Hint in 3 letters: TTT
-
hmmz. I think it's something with Grima...

-

-

bet this isnt so hard..
"Where are they?"
-
Pippin to Aragorn, Gandalf, Legolas, Gimli and Eomer at the end of the Return of the King in front of the Black Gates of Mordor
-
Random orc in TTT when the Uruck-Hai with Merry and Pippin rendez-vous with the mordor orcs
-

-

yep! got that quick! well done! your turn!
-
Prepare for a hard one :P
'go back' :D
-
"Go back to the abyss! Fall into the nothingness that awaits you and your master!"
or
"Go back to the shadows! You shall not pass!"
Both said by Gandalf, 1st in ROTK, 2nd in FOTR.
-
Was it Frodo. When Frodo was in the boat at the end of the movie he told Sam to go back?
-

"We've brought the ring to Rivendell, so I thought it's time to go back home"
-
Don't get irritated but it is not Frodo.

-

-
Not the Nine Walkers (the Fellowship)
-
Treebeard to Merry and Pip after the Entmoot

Gollum to Frodo just before they enter Shelob's Lair
"Go in or Go Back"
&
Gollum to Frodo when they are in front of Shelobs Lair....

-
No problem, i totally missed legendel's post otherwise i wouldnt have posted
-
yay, finally. that was a hard one....
I think this should be a rather easy one:
"pitty?"
-
Frodo to Gandalf?
Gandalf to Frodo.
-
Bilbo to Frodo when Frodo says he lost the ring at the (one of many ends) of RoTK
-
"pity is what stayed Bilbo's hand"
Gandalf to Frodo in Moria ?
-
EG, if this is right you can have it since it's ion the same sentence, but the quote was "Pity?" with a question mark, whihc Gandalf says right before "pity is what stayed Bilbo's hand". :)
-
:) thanks :)
"Saruman."
-
Er, Merry/Pippin when Treebeard drops them in front of the White Wizard.
-
nope
-
Uruk-hai in answer to Saruman: "Whom do you serve?" - "Saruman."
-
nope :-\
-
EG how come you started, Legendel didn't tell us who was right.... did he?
And wasn't Aragorn when Legolas says 'The Uruks are turning North East, theyre taking the Hobbits to Isengard' ?
-
yes :)
-
Am I right?? Cool, um I think this is easy
'Swords are no use to you here.'
-
Gandalf to Aragorn in Moria
-
Yes :) Told you it was easy! :D
-
:D
Easy too:
'Be on your guard'
-
"there are fouler things than orcs living in these places"
Gandalf to the Company Moria
-
Gandalf in Moria "There are older and fouler things than orcs in the deep places of the world." That it?
-
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
EG is first :P
Your turn
-
Nice and short.
-
... ???
anyway. EG was right... ~Kali~ was right too, but not exact enough.
is "nice and short" the next quote?
-
OH oh! Faramir tells Boromir he liked his speach, nice and short. Boromir says it leaves more time for drinking!!!!
-
yep :)
-
Brilliant, I'm on a role 8)
ok....
'He will not understand.'
-
OH oh! Faramir tells Boromir he liked his speach, nice and short. Boromir says it leaves more time for drinking!!!!

No need to say where it was said because it's the only moment in the trilogy where we see Boromir and Faramir together.
-
Thank you, I didn't pay much attention to the EE of TTT. :)

-
Aranea!!!
-
Wow those quotes are confusing :8o
And its not Frodo to Gandalf, but the quotes right.
-
o wait, its Frodo to Aragorn at Amon Hen :fr: just before the Uruck-Hai arrive
-
Yep thats it, well done :D
Your go!
-

new quote:
"What did you say"
-
Gollum to Smeagol in Ithilien:
Smeagol: Not anymore.
Gollum: What did you say?
Smeagol: Master looks after us now.
-
Gollum to Smeagol in Ithilien:
Smeagol: Not anymore.
Gollum: What did you say?
Smeagol: Master looks after us now.
yes, your turn
-
:D
'I don't know why...'
-
Was that Frodo at some point? ???
-
Yes. But where?
-
You'll have to bear with me on that one, unless someone else can jump in with the answer.
-
isn't it in FOTR when frodo is talking to Gandalf about Bilbo leaving?
-
isn't it in FOTR when frodo is talking to Gandalf about Bilbo leaving?
No, it isn't at that point
-
Frodo to Gandalf in Moria.
I don't know why........
Blèh, don't know it. >(
why do you always have to take such hard quotes :P
-
Well it must be to Sam, yes?
-
oh, oh
is it Frodo to Aragorn in Bree
"I don't know why, but I think we can trust you" or sumthing like that.
-
No. Not there. Not to Aragorn
-
arrr.... ???
-
Frodo says it earlier than those variants
-
how can it be earlier then those variants. we already had the start of the movie ???
I think I'm gonna cheat and look it up in a transcript
-
I meant it's before Moria and Bree, but yes it's after Bilbo's leaving :[
-
ah, ok...
still don't have a clue >( >(
-
Damn, I've made a mistake: it isn't Frodo who says 'I don't know why' :[ :[ :-\
Hint: before the black riders revealed themselves to the hobbits.
-
Gandalf to Sam at the start when sam is listening to the conversation of Gandalf and Frodo in Bag End?
-
Nope. I can't see why this turned out to be so difficult ??? Maybe you guys haven't watched the movie for too long?
'I don't know why'
-
Nope. I can't see why this turned out to be so difficult ??? Maybe you guys haven't watched the movie for too long?
hehe, it has been a while since I saw FOTR. and when I watch it I usually forward to the battle scenes :P
-
its Sam to Frodo watching the Elves leave for the Grey Havens..
"i dont know why, but it makes me feel kinda sad..."
-
Correct!!! Your turn! :)
-
"It is time"
-
Bilbo to Gandalf: 'It's late, the road is long. Yes, it is time'
-
nope :)
-
Gandalf to Frodo at the end of the Return of the King?
-
I think it was Elrond to Frodo at the end of ROTK.
-
nope.. and nope :)
-
Elrond to Arwen in the TT.
It is time. The ships are leaving for Valinor. Go now before it is too late.
-
no, sorry :)
-
All right. Is it in the TT?
-
no not in TTT
-
Maybe Arwen to Elrond in the RotK? before 'from the ashes a fire will be woken' or something like that
-
yes, youre on the right lines Taurendil. Do you know to what she is referring when she says "it is time"
-
Maybe she's refering to the re-forging of the blade? ???
-
yep! exactly right :)
your turn
-
:D
'Cuiva nwalca Carnirassë! Nai yarvaxëa rasselya taltuva ñotto-carinnar!'
It's easy, really easy.
-
Haldir to Aragorn ? when entering Lorien ?
-
Nope.
-
Legolas to Aragorn in TTT when they are talking about that 10.000 Uruck-Hai are too much for the Rohirrim?
-
hmm... it just doesnt look elvish to me :-\ the more i look at it *puzzled*
-
No.
Hint: Try to say it loudly and then see what it reminds you. ::) If it doesn't help I'll give you more clues. :)
-
Yep, it's him
'Wake up cruel Redhorn! May your blood-stained horn shall fall upon the enemy-heads' (Quenya)
Your go!
-
Gollum? 'Wake up sleepies, no time to lose silly' or something along those lines anyway ::)
-
I think there's not any other such quote in the films, so maybe you will post the next one, Arenea? After all we can return to the above qoute at any time. ???
-
i agree with Taurendil...
your turn :)
-
Sorry I'm a bit thick today, :-\ :[
Is it my go then?
-
Yep
-
OK then :)
I think this is seriously easy but oh well ::):
'Look at me'
-
Easy indeed! But I don't think I'll give an answer :P
-
ok..... :8o
Why not? :o
-
I just want other people to play. Besides, you don't want another difficult one, do you? :P
-
... yeah you've got me there ::)
Now lets wait.....
*falls asleep*
-
Gandalf to Pippin
"look at me, what did you see?" (when Pippin took the Palantir)
-

Sam to Frodo, when he's looking at the lembas bread right at the beginning of ROTK in that cave thing (which to me always looks like a drain pipe!) nad Frodo says, "for what"

-
Exactly! Your turn :)
-
Blimey, you guys are good at this. Come on then EG lets have a new one. :D
-
"I know what it is you want of me"
-
Thats Theoden isnt it? When he is discussing with Aragorn whether to stay and fight at Edoras.....
Something like, I know what it is you want of me, but I wont endanger my people (or something similar!) :8o
-
yep! thats it!
very quick!
your turn
-
Hmmm the problem here is the difficulty I have in gettng in here regularly.
I know I shall tell EG the answer so that she can stand in for me when I am not here. :) No I wont, I shall tell Lessa, then EG can still play! :P ::)
'I do not believe it, I will not.'
-
OH this is brilliant I actually know the answer of the top of my head for once!! :D 8)
Aragorn says it after he chops of the Mouth of Saurons head! :D 8) ::)
-
Well. THAT solved my problem didnt it? :P ::)
Well done, your turn. ;) :D
-
I know, I solve everyone's problems because I'm so brilliant! :D 8)
Oh... i forgot I have to think of one now.... ???
'He won't ever be rid of his need for it.'
-
As far as I remember it sounds as 'He will never be rid of his need for it'. But anyway, Gandalf to Frodo in Moria
-
Well i just got it from the script on this site but yeah your go! :D
-
:D
'get me up here'
-
Merry to Aragorn in Edoras, watching Gandalf and Pippin ride away, from the top of a wooden tower thing
-
Nope. Is that wooden tower thing a golden hall called Meduseld?
-
No! ::)
Probably a turrett ...
http://www.framecaplib.com/lotrlib/html/episodes/images/rotk/rotk0328.htm
-
Indeed, I've made a mistake. :-\ ;D
'get me up here'
-
Isnt that Gimli asking to be helped up onto the horse....ie Get me up here Iam a rider??
-
Yeah, it's him. Thought it'd be harder! :D
Your turn
-
'you are not bound to his fate'
-
Arwen to Aragorn in Rivendel
-
 I see! That obviously wasnt as hard as I thought it was gonna be either!!
Your turn! ;)
-
'What's this?'
-
Is it... Bilbo, when he finds the ring in FotR?
-
Yeah! Well done! Your turn :)
-
'But I was always there to get him out again.'
-
Please, can you pick up something more difficult? ::)
Merry to Strider in Rohan in the RotK
-
:[ :[
I can't think!! So i picked that one :[ :[ ::) ::)
Yes your go :D
-
Now, let me see...
Perhaps, this:
'Anything there?'
Not difficult too..
-
Bilbo to Gandalf in Bagend ?
-
I've made a mistake! Sorry :[ The quote I posted is incorrect :fr: :[ :[
A new one:
'We cannot get out'
-
Gandalf in Balin's tomb?
-
Gandalf reading from Balin's friends diary..
-
It's Gandalf indeed. Both of you are right
Who's going to be next? ???
-
Kali got it first
-
"Why doesn't that surprise me?"
-
:P Legolas near the western gates of Moria
-
yep
-
'Do you understand me?'
-
Gandelf to Pippen Rohan i think. ???
Bhaal >:(
-
Not Gandalf to Pippin ;)
'Do you understand me?'
-
Hmm, I thought it was Gandalf in Gondor...
-
No, there's another 'Do you understand me?'
-
Frodo to Gollum
-
Nope. Not Frodo
-
Samwise! In the extended edition when he threatens Gollum!
-
No, not Samwise. I expect this one to be hard :P Therefore: not a chief character
-
Celeborn to Aragorn ?
-
Nope.
'Do you understand me?'
-
Uhhh Theoden to Eowyn? :8o
-
No, the character is not as chief as Theoden or Eowyn. In fact, I don't know his/her name
-
AHA! GOT IT!!! :D
Morwen is telling her child Freda :
Listen to me. You must ride to Edoras and raise the alarm. Do you understand me?
Eothain replies with:
Yes, Mama
That HAS to be it?? 8)
-
Yep. Why, is she Morwen? I never knew that :8o
-
I dunno its just on the movie script LOL! ::)
Uhh OK:
'...along with everything else'
-
Maybe Gandalf to Bilbo?
-
Gorbag (or Shagrat, can't remember) to an Orc.
He says , "Take him to the tower, along with everything else..."
-
Damn, I thought that would be harder ::)
Your go Tellyn :D
-
THanks :)
This should be hard...
"... I saw the Eastern sky grow dark."
-
Is it Eowyn when shes telling Aragorn about her dream?
:P :D
-
THanks :)
This should be hard...
"... I saw the Eastern sky grow dark."
"but in the west a pale light lingered. Your doom is near at hand..''
Boromir to the Council of Elrond
-
Dag nabbit you got it Taurendil. Your go. :)
-
:D
'Who are you?'
-
Oh oh! Frodo asks that to Strider when Strider just threw him in the room in FotR!!!
please be right ::)
-
Nope :-\
-
...Damn... well he DOES say that ::) 'Cos then Strider goes 'Are you frightened? Not nearly frightened enough' and so on and so forth. :P
Oh Aragorn asks Gandalf the White that when they thinks he's Saruman 'Who are you? Show yourself!'
That HAS to be right ::)
-
Nope! :-\
This may not be the quote I've picked up ::)
-
Eomer to Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli in the Westfold (I think thats where it is)
-
No. :-\
'Who are you?'
-
Frodo to Gollum in the Two Towers?
-
Not Frodo.
-
Faramir in TTT to Frodo and Sam?
-
Nope
'Who are you?'
-
Boromir to Aragorn in FOTR EE:
<<Man: You are no Elf!>>
<<Strider: The Men of the South are welcome here.>>
<<Man: Who are you?>>
<<Strider: I am a friend to Gandalf the Grey.>>
<<Man: Then we are here on a common purpose . . . (he smiles) . . . friend .>>
-
Indeed. Your go!
-
Obvusly I transcripted that, I really had no clue :[
let's see...
"I will break him"
I think it's an easy one
-
Is that the witch-king speaking of gandalf?
-
yup, your turn
-
:pk:
Shall we get a new one? ???
-
Sorry, forgot about this :(
"Wait"
-
So short! That's great!
Bilbo to Gandalf?
'Wait. It's here in my pocket'
-
Thought you might like it, although if it were me, I'd be annoyed as it doesn't give you much to go on :D
Afraid not.
"Wait"
-
The shorter the more interesting.... :D
All right: Pippin to Fangorn
Something like: 'Wait. Take us south'
-
Nope, not that either :(
"Wait."
-
Oh, maybe Frodo to Gandalf:
'Wait, there are markings. I can't read it. It's some form of elvish' (about the Ring inscription)
-
"Wait, what about second breakfast" Pippin
-
Yep Taurendil, twas Frodo speaking of the markings appearing upon the ring to Gandalf.
Your go. :)
-
:)
Probably easy one:
'He can do it again'
-
"Smeagol did it once, he can do it again!"
Gollum to SMeagol.
-
Easy indeed! Your turn!
-
New quote please :pk:
-
Gah, sorry about that.
"The lower level’s in flames."
-
"it's the deep breath before the plunge"
-
Gah, sorry about that.
"The lower level’s in flames."
Eomer to Theoden?
-
Malk, can I explain how this game works ? We have to guess the quote that someone gives.. and whoever gets that right can do the next quote.
So, atm we're guessing Tellyn's quote
(incidentally, your quote was said by Gandalf)
-
I don't think that's in the movies his one ?
-
Gah, sorry about that.
"The lower level’s in flames."
theoden to aragorn??
-
I don't think that's in the movies his one ?
It is
-
its about Gondor, when its being attacked in rotk... but I cant rememeber who said it..
-
can we get this one put away it's drivign me nuts now lol
-
can we get this one put away it's drivign me nuts now lol
you think we even care ? we dont
-
awwww that's not very nice. Man took the time to put a quote up . If you don't care then don't post surely rather than hostile comments.
-
....Many things are reeling through my mind... oh the hilarity ;D :P ::)
And I'm sure its Eomer, in teh EE of RotK, after he's been sent to look at Minas Tirith.
-
....Many things are reeling through my mind... oh the hilarity ;D :P ::)
And I'm sure its Eomer, in teh EE of RotK, after he's been sent to look at Minas Tirith.
ahh the EE , that will be why I have no recollection. Well done.
-
I think its a soldier, reporting back to Gandalf... as they defend the city before Grond arrives. (dont know the soldiers name)
-
Taurendil is correct, Eomer to Theoden at the Rohirrim camp in ROTKEE.
-
'Where is he?'
-
Eowyn to Gimli about Aragorn when Gimli, Theoden arrive at Helms Deep, after the Warg battle..
(well done on getting the last quote Taurendil! That had me totally lost!)
-
Eowyn to Gimli about Aragorn when Gimli, Theoden arrive at Helms Deep, after the Warg battle..
(well done on getting the last quote Taurendil! That had me totally lost!)
It's just I re-watched the Return of the King recently.
But no, not Eowyn to Gimli. :-\
-
Sam to Frodo then, at the end of the TTT .... when they are wandering through the woods
-
Nope.
'Where is he?'
-
Oh, Oh, oh!!!
I think I know this!!!!
Is it Gimli when he's forcing his way through a crowd in Helms Deep. When Aragorn has returned! I think its something like:
'Where is he? I'll kill him.'
-
Right you are, it's Gimli in Helm's Deep. Your turn :)
-
Woohoo :D
'Where is the rest?'
-
Looks difficult for me.. Maybe Theoden?
-
No not Theoden
-
that Orc ..... the one with the skull on his head, when he sees the boats arriving at the port at Gondor and Aragorn jumps off...
-
Nope, your closer to it with Theoden
-
Gamling? (sp?)
-
Nope, colder :P
-
Hm It turns into a complete guesswork. Not Eomer, is it?
-
No but VERY warm! :D
EGGGG HELLOOOOO LOOK OVER HERE *waves and jumps around*
LOOOOK AT MEEEEE!!! :P :P  ;D
-
Eowyn at Helm's Deep again? But I can't remember where
-
Its Eowyn in Helms Deep, when they get back after the warg thing..
-
Yep you both got it :D
-
EG, your turn, but don't dissapear on holidays without leaving an answer :)
I still can't recall if she says that though :[
-
oh no! yeah she does say it.. when she really means. Where is Aragorn who I am desperately in love with lol!
Hey!T you go next, coz Im off in the morning. and you could all be waiting 2 weeks for a reply ;) rabbit
-
All right then.
'He is alive'
-
Eomer talking to a soldier about Theodred.
-
Nope
'He is alive'
-
This is way too vague to be a proper answer, but is it someone speaking of Frodo?
-
Yeah, it's about Frodo, but who and where?
-
How about .... Aragorn at Weathertop?
-
No, not Aragorn
-
But it is at Weathertop?
-
No. In fact I can't recall anyone saying this at Amon Sul
-
Really, they don't? I was sure someone did, at least something similar anyhoo.
I'll have to go and investimigate it.
-
Sam in Rivendell when Frodo wakes up..
WOAH! no one has done this in the last 2 weeks :o :(
-
No :-\
'He is alive'
-
Eowyn about Aragorn when he returns to Helms Deep ?
-
Nope
-
Sam at Moria after Frodo is stabbed by the Cave Troll?
-
Sam at Moria after Frodo is stabbed by the Cave Troll?
Most obvious, but I chose another one
'He is alive'
-
or ..... Pippin when he realises Faramir is alive, before Denethor intends to burn him on a pyre ..
-
No, it's about Frodo
-
Sam when he finds Frodo in Cirith Ungol (Blimey!!!! Ill work this out one day ::) )
-
no again :P
'he is alive'
-
*sigh* right.....
Pippin when he finds Merry on the Pelennor Fields, more or less under an Oliphaunt
-
'he is alive' refers to Frodo :-\ XD
-
is it, after the "cave troll" attacks Frodo in Moria... and it looks like Frodo is dead... and Aragorn turns him over, after he has been speared like a "wild boar"
-
Nay, look, it's in the RotK
-
is it Gandalf about Frodo after they realise Mount Doom is exploding or about to etc..
-
It's him, but not at that time. Much earlier.
-
oh! In Edoras... talking to Aragorn during the party ..
-
Indeed! Your turn :)
-
at last! got there in the end :8o
"Lord of the Earth"
-
Saruman in the FotR 'The power of Isengard is at your command, Sauron Lord of the Earth'?
-
yeah! lol! that didnt take long :D
-
'You know this'
-
Galadriel to Boromir in Lothlorien ?
-
Nope. Did she say that at all to Boromir??
-
Galadriel to Frodo, speaking OF Boromir in Lothlorien that he would try to steal the Ring from Frodo.
-
Didn't she say 'You know of whom I speak'?
'You know this'
-
I just keep thinking its someone talking to Aragorn...
and therefore I think its Elrond..
(but I can still hear Galadriel's voice saying it ;))
-
Not to Aragorn surely and not Elrond
-
Galadriel spoke to Elrond that Frodo would fail his quest?
-
yes! that sounds right! might make sense of why I was thinking Galadriel and Elrond... lol :-\
-
Nope. It's not Galadriel. It's in the FotR
-
Frodo to Boromir at Amon Hen?
-
Nah, earlier
-
Is it Gandalf to Frodo or Bilbo? "You know this to be true"? (Or something like that)
-
In fact it is Gandalf though neither to Bilbo nor to Frodo :)
'You know this'
-
To Aragorn?
-
Nope
-
This has only taken me 20 minutes of staring at the screen, but is it Gandalf to Saruman when Saruman says that Sauron is gathering an army:
'You know this? How?'
and then he shows him the palantir.
-
YESSSSSSS! To him. Correct, your turn. Indeed it wasn't difficult was it?
-
Woo!
*dances*
... Oh yeah...
'And you will defeat it...'
... That had better be right 'cos I'm going by pure memory ::)
-
Is that when Arwen is talking to Aragorn in the FOTR when they are in Rivendell? He is broading over the shards of Narsil after Boromir wanders off and she comes in with the 'Why do you feer the past...ect'
-
Yep...
I have got to get some better lines
*goes off to watch all three movies again*
-
Oh dear I guess that meens its my turn dosnt it?
All riders to the head of the column.
There we go!
-
theoden says that when the people of Edoras are attacked by the Wargs
-
Aye, tiss indeed.
*Takes a leaf out of Ear's book*
-
There's a book in my ear?? Oh my god it better not be the LOTR... that'll be painfull
*Starts knocking side of head like trying to get water out of ears*
-
You are fair and brave and have much to live for....
-
*Stops trying to get book out of ear*
Oh Oh Oh!!
Aragorn to Éowyn?
-
Merry to Éowyn?
-
Oh damn it is 'n' all... ::)
I knew someone said that to Éowyn ::) :P
-
:pk:
-
Merry to Éowyn?
Yes
Sorry I completely forgot about this
-
These things happen :)
Probably obvios but nevertheless:
'Ash nazg durbatulûk, ash nazg gimbatul, ash nazg thrakatulûk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul.'
-
I think there could be several answers to this!
Gandalf to Frodo in Bag End?
-
Nope. I should like to hear the next answer ::)
-
Saruman when he's like : Boom Boom Boom BOOM Bring down this rocky mountain BOOM!
And Legolas is like : There is a fell voice in the air
...Before they go to Moria
... or along those lines ::) :P
-
Hmm.... did you not recognise it?
It's the ring verse.
Anyway it's not Legolas either
-
Gandalf at the Council of Elrond?
-
Close to the answer but not Gandalf
-
OMG OMG OMG
When the ring has this weird rant and starts speaking to Frodo at the council of Elrond and Frodo's like 'Ow my head!' :-\
-
Exactly, it's the ring; but I don't think it's speaking to Frodo. Your turn.
-
the Ring itself, or at least Sauron talking through it.
-
Yes, yes but Ear is first. :)
-
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee 8)
'and turned them all to stone.'
'Tis eeeeeasy but OH WELL!!! ::) :P
-
My first post in ages...
Bilbo Baggins speaking to Hobbit children in FOTR :p
-
yep! your'e right...
Going to take the "upper hand" here and tell you its your turn!
-
Dear god I killed the thread! Fear not, I have returned.
"You may triumph in the field of battle for a day, but against the power that has risen in the east, there is no victory!"
-
is it Gandalf? at the end of the Helms Deep battle ?
-
I thought it was Saruman when him and Gandalf the Grey have that meeting where they end up beating eachother up :-\
.........
At Isengard :P
-
Both wrong. :p
-
... I'm just playing every single character saying that in my head :8o
Wormtongue?
EDIT: WAIT WAIT NOOOOO
Did Denethor say it??? :8o
-
DING DING DING! Denethor is correct! He said it right before dropping the flaming torch on Faramir's pyre.
