Andúril

If there was ever just one sword I was going to own, it'd be this one.

Its beautifully made, decorated with the Elven Rhunes, and gold finishing details on the hilt.

There is more elvish inscription around the top of the hilt (really must look up what it says!).

Andúril rests on a beautifully made wooden display frame, which is gold painted, and really sets it off.

The only way to truly appreciate this sword is to hold it. Its so long, I have to take it outside to hold it up, for fear of putting holes in the ceiling!
Its only then you truly feel the weight and beauty of it. Ive collected many pics of people with my Andúril, because it was the one that Spikie took to the Fellowship Festival...

Here's its story:

Here is my baby.... Andúril..... borne home after great fame... The day I met him..... I glanced across a crowded room, and his gleaming metal met my eyes






He was being guarded so greatly by many swords and weapons and none less than Sir Spikie himself.

I walked slowly towards him.... and admired his gleaming metal, the magnificent inscriptions and beheld the power within.... I yearned to touch him.....reaching out, I grasped his hilt and at last claimed the metal that held so many legends

Reluctantly despite attempts to disappear silently with him, I was forced to replace him to his place of safety, for all to admire his greatness and yield to his power

Many took hold of him that weekend From the famous (Gina Avecoda of Weta Workshop)





 to those more daring mortals of Middle Earth


 







He was even reluctantly filmed on video

 

but none could yield a power so mighty for long
So at last, Andúril, recognised that there was only one home for him, only one who would worship and adore him sufficiently.... and he returned to his place of worship, to be admired and adored by many

Within days of arriving home, many came to visit, and he visted many more.... always people wanted to hold him to feel the power and strength and to admire his beauty. but now.... it is late and he sleeps and rests, guarding me .... watching over me as I work (and play)

Aa truly beautiful sword. Ornately decorated on both the blade and handle... the wooden handle finished off in brass.... and when you hold it the shape is truly amazing.

It feels like an elven sword, light, effective and carefully crafted! The only thing that worried me, was that I wanted to display it on the wall.... so I adapated the plaque... like this
