I was fortunate enough to go to the premičre in Leicester Square. I enjoyed the action but felt the storyline was weak and the battle was confusing - it won't achieve the same level of critical success that The Return of the King achieved (namely 11 Academy Awards).

We were left with the same thought about the battles Mith!

I suppose they are trying to get the cinematography right to get the mass crowds in. I agree it seems they stretched parts out too much, but I'm sure they have a good reason for it (I'm just not sure what that was...)

That reason is money  ::)

Like I said it could have been a perfectly decent stand alone film but the quality has suffered by making it into 3.

I'm in total agreement with you Yalewen on that!!  Money is what they were after more than an outstanding film!!

The Lord of the rings films were a total labour of love for Jackson.

And although I'm sure he has love for the hobbit story, the key driving force was indeed money

Personally I don't think the drive behind making the film was about money for Peter.
It was probably the film studio that was more into the money. Peter has a passion for the books and making the films to a high standard.

I think there are parts of both in there really, which is a shame, but still, they are great films none the less x
