I saw it on the 16th of December!
It was absolutely incredible and I'm not going to deny, I cried a lot at the end. I went with my brother and his lady and sat there with tears rolling down my cheeks. Highly recommend seeing it!

I saw it Christmas Eve... it is very good.  Really enjoyed it!  I got bored towards the end of the second Hobbit film, I thought the dragon scenes were too prolonged.. but the last film was brilliant!  (apart from the romance bits!)

Completely agree there.
There was some parts in the third one I thought were a bit drawn out. I loved the ending of the last one!

Really enjoyed it! Best of the hobbit movies, but still not a patch on the 3 lotr films.

There was a lot of unnecessary scenes and others that were drawn out a bit but tbh, the more middle earth I get the better!

Totally agree!
What were your favourite parts over all?
My favourites have to be the scenes with Galadriel at Dol Guldur and when Thorin was overcome with the dragon sickness. Both were incredible. The special effects were superb.
It definitely had certain parts that were drawn out, but overall I'd say it was was the best of the 3.

The Lord of the rings films were epic, it's what brought me here, through work of course, but still....  X

Lord of the Rings was an epic trilogy and deserved that amount of screen time, I think The Hobbit could have been done quite nicely in one decent 2.5hr film. Having said that I did enjoy them for the most part, The Battle of the Five Armies especially.
Like EG I got bored towards the end of the second one, seemed a lot of unnecessary scenes crammed in and it was just a mission to watch it haha.

It did seem like a lot of things just seemed to 'end' with no explanation, like the battle itself. While it showed Thorin fighting with the Pale Orc it just skips over a lot of the other details - at least I think, could have been very probable that I wasn't paying attention... ::)

No, you're right.
I'd completely forgotten about that. I had almost fallen asleep at that point it dragged on so much. Having talked with my brother about it (because I'm so bad I still haven't read the book yet) he said that some characters and key parts were missed out which I had assumed would happen because it happened in LOTR.

But the whole part about Thorin fighting Azog could have been shorter!!

I suppose they are trying to get the cinematography right to get the mass crowds in. I agree it seems they stretched parts out too much, but I'm sure they have a good reason for it (I'm just not sure what that was...)

Did anyone else find the scene between legolas and thranduil at the end about "strider" ridiculously contrived?

As soon as I saw where the conversation was going i was like no no no no! Why would he just suddenly say this?!

Yeah, I thought that too.
Maybe they thought it would link the hobbit and LOTR together  ::)

I  thought it was odd, because if he went to find Strider how could he be sent by Thandruil to the Council  if he never returned to Mirkwood.
