It's new line that have the rights i think, and loast i heard PJ was having trouble getting them from new line, not entirely sure tho, says all the info in another topic.

united artists have em, so if they can get em off there it will go ahead and new line will support him
plus i think they will get em off them if they give em a sum of money, but it said it on the pulse so i think they do av em, trust the presenters

I'm sorry but I think Andy is after the cash!  he has still yet, to my knowledge(and I am happy to stand corrected on this!) to land another movie... I still find it wierd that in the main it is only the "minor" characters who turn up at events like Collectormania... and EVERY Premiere.....

Sir Ian really wants to do it, although he would rather it was a series of TV films, to do justice to the story... (I point this out, because I think unlike Serkis, Sir Ian wants to do it for the amazing role, in an equally fantastic story.

Indeed... although Elijah and the other hobbit actors have all been to at least one collectormania, and Collectormania does attracts some bigger names from other shows as well (such as Tony Stewart Head at the last one). As for premiers... well indeed.

I know last year all the hobbits, bar Sean turned up at Collectormania... I think that Merry and Pip are still (or were) riding on a high from the promotion and popularity of it all..... they seem to attend everything atm...

but yeah. Sir Ian has a wish to do it, purely because he's become a Tolkien addict!  and he also says he's looking forward to being Gandalf the Grey again, instead of the "proper" White wizard....

I'm sure Ian would still be Gandalf..and Andy still as Gollum .. but who would be Bilbo (a younger version) ...and there'd be need for alot of dwarves... and I'd LOVE to see Weta take on the creation of Smaug!
