It has come to the attention of the Administration of the Site that Bullying of our members by our members is occurring offsite. We are disappointed by this and although we would normally turn a blind eye to this sort of activity as it is not occurring on the forum, either in posts or Instant Messaging, and technically it is not under our “management”, we can no longer do this due to the aggressive and persistent nature of the Bullying, and the effect it is having on the bullied party, to the extreme of members no longer wishing to visit our site.

So it has been decided that excessive, aggressive and persistent bullying of members by members will NOT be tolerated in any form - whether through MSN or email. If you are threatening members through email or MSN to stay away from the site or face some sort of consequence from yourself or your “friends” then this is NOT acceptable, and you will have repercussions on your account here if we become aware of it.

Such action that we will take include, but are not limited to, the removal of privileges, the removal of special titles, through to the extreme of ISP banning.

This forum is supposed to be a happy place for people with a love of LOTR’s to visit and chat in an online community, it is a place that has long prided itself on it’s safety and family nature.

It grieves us to have to take such action, but it has become apparent that several of our members are not taking a friendly or “site promoting” attitude in their treatment of their peers.

This is your warning. And you will not get others until you are about to be banned for your inappropriate behaviour.

Please, stop now, the bullying must cease. This is not the place for it, and it is not the site that we are known for - though the name of LOTRUK is rapidly changing because of your actions.

Please keep in mind, that you do not run this site - and regardless of your positions on other forums, even owning your own forum, does not give you the right to expect this forum to run the same, or that you will be granted special privileges or rights based on such, it also does not give you the right to choose which members are “right” for the forum, we appreciate that everyone here would like to see “quality” members on our site. But if you are taking matters into your own hands and threatening, bullying or in some other way pushing people off our site, then you are not the type of member that we want here.

Friendships with Moderators and Administrators, or your position as one, will not be taken into account. Regardless of who you are, Bullying will NOT be tolerated any longer.

The Admin urge you to come to us with any current Bullying you are suffering from.

The slate is currently clean for everyone - past actions will not be entered into - but there is now a zero tolerance attitude. We suggest that if you receive a threatening or aggressive communication from someone regardless of if it is VIA the site or MSN or email, YOU DO NOT REPLY OR TAKE ANY ACTION TOWARDS YOUR AGGRESSOR, as this is counter productive - and if you are provoking attacks, then both you and your counterpart will both suffer the same consequences. Instead we urge you to forward such communication to one of the Administrators for action to be taken.

We understand that not everyone here will like everyone else. But have the common sense to stay away from those who irritate you and be around the people you consider friends and that you get along with. Protection starts with yourself, do not put yourself in a position to be abused. Although it will not limit the responsibility of the bully, it is safer and will help you better enjoy your membership of the forum.
