Anyone playing this ? I am! and I think its excellent! I particularly like playing in Fellowships!
Im an elf loremaster... and have a raven McCawber as a pet! Hes brilliant!
-
Is this the new online roleplay kinda game? I really want it, but I heard you have to pay monthly or £100 up front, which sounds pretty steep to me :S I never pay monthly for games (A)
But I do really want it, is it worth it?
-
you can only pay £100 up front if you bought the founders pack, and you want life time membership.
yes, you have to pay monthly £7.99 but I guess if you get fed up after a month you can cancel your DD
-
What server are you on EG?
I'm on Snowbourn; although I also have a backup character on Evernight & a couple on Laurelin which is our Kinship's "event server".
Icy, if you want to try the game out, you get a free month in with the price of the game pack. Then you can pay monthly, or slightly less per month by paying for 6 at once. The £100 offer expired when the game started properly, but there's a new £150 life time offer for anyone who wants one badly enough.

Im on Eldar server.....
was recommended when I signed up, but theyre now saying its one of the busiest
What level are you CC ? do you find the kinship useful ? they havent done anything for me yet :-\
what is your main character ?
-
35 Minstrel (too poor yet to buy a pony ::), mostly because I send my alts money for crafting).
Also working on LM, she's 21 now (I really enjoyed LM in beta, got to 30). Plus Champ, Hunter & Burglar all in their teens.
I'm in a brilliant kinship, really helpful - we exchange crafting materials, recipes, armour, weaps ... yeh you have to make money so you sell stuff too, and my alts get first call, but it's often kin first, try & make money off it if no-one wants.
If you need a fellowship for something & ask in kin chat you can get swamped with offers - only real problem is if you have 50s for your low level mobs it can be rather too easy which can take the fun of the challenge out of it. But then some of the stuff I've been doing - Garth Agarwen - is still tricky with a couple of high levels in the fellowship.
We use voice chat quite a lot too - it makes planning how to take mobs down much easier - or just being able to yell HELP instead of trying to type it while being attacked. It still works well even if 1 or 2 ppl only have it on to hear while the rest of us use mics. It can be a little odd when you see the female toon before hearing the deep male voice though :D.
(Yes they're mostly male - there's 2 single women & 4 who play alongside their husbands/partners - and me, who's husband wouldn't dream of playing a computer game .)
My kids' kinships seem to be much more like yours though - not really organised or that helpful. (Yes, I paid for 3 life memberships *gulp* although they will be paying me back over time - I figured it was preferable to having them decide they want to play WOW in a year or 2 ;D.)
-
WOW! Im a lvl 15 LM atm.... its getting hard to find fships to do quests tho.... IM in the Shire atm and getting a bit bored of it.. the quests arent as interesting as they were in Ered Luin :(
Im paying mthly... thinking of leaving my kinship.... seeing if theres a better one around.. I guess coz you were in beta you must have got in with a good croud!
-
15? about time to move on to west of Bree / Old Forest / Barrow-downs quests - unless you want to finish all the quest chains (I tend to like to 8) ).
For the starter quests Archet/Combe/Staddle is by far the fastest, Ered Luin middling & the Shire slowest, but I love doing the Shire ... although the pie quests ... tt .
Look through codies forums for kinships (http://community.codemasters.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=b5d0114683451ed34c2129e3042c4468&f=749) & see which you like the look of - check out their sites & forums too. But yes I did get a good headstart by joining a beta kinship; we were full before the game started properly.
As for my levels ... yeh I'm spending a lot of time in-game .
-
i found it quite easy to move up to about lvl 11 then its got a lot slower./... i found ered luin a lot more fun than the shire tho... i hate starting millions of quests b4 completing any :(
I got to Chap 3 in the Shire.. and everyone else now seems to be on a min of chap 11 quests in the shire! got to thinking now that I need to up my lvl so that I can complete chap 3 on my own ::(
just had someone nice show me where the barrow downs are, which looks a bit more challenging for me than bloody wolves!!
Hey, CC do you get to keep the same character, lvl if you swop servers ???
-
Nope, different characters on each server :( (though that means you can have 5 on each if you want!).
If you are interested in re-starting on Snowbourn, I would stand a fair chance of getting you into our kinship - "full" is ~80; but no-one really knows exactly how many members we have :D ; and "real life friends" can still be smuggled in (we don't have to tell them we've only met up a few times ;) )
The kinship is The Last Alliance (http://thelastalliance.guildportal.com/Guild.aspx?GuildID=118027&TabID=1007054) (the main forums are hidden though) & I go the unlikely name of DancesInTrees - thing is I'm going away for 2 weeks (leaving in less than an hour...) so it won't be able to speak up for you just yet.
If you do go for it, keep your current char - you need somewhere else to play when Snowbourn crashes!
-
hee hee... got in a great kin now on Eldar.... but theyre trying to cut it down to lvl 30s and above.. so working like mad to lvl up my LM .... nearly done 28 now. Got til Friday to do it. :8o
I started a new Minstrel char too with one of the guys from the kin on Eldar, in Snowbourn.... working as a ffship so lvl up quicker...
Wierd playing another character tho, im so used to the LM and the bear..... always takes me about half an hour to get used to the diff skills again lol
Whats your online name on Snowbourn CC ???
-
Does no one else play this at all ? you oughta give it ago.. its amazing
we got lorien now, and wandering through the mallorn trees... or hiding in the great halls of Moria.. graphics are AMAZING!
