Title: Football Season 2011/2012
Post by: † Gilly † on August 13, 2005, 07:50:40 PM
Well people, it is finally upon us, the new season!

Well, for the lower leagues it started last week but meh :P

Manchester United are sitting top of the Premiership after a comfortable 2-0 victory over Everton, Ruud van Nistelrooy and ex Everton whizzkid Wayne Rooney grabbing the goals

Former United star Phil Neville put in a good debut for Everton, but the Toffees failed to penetrate an impressive United team.

van der Saar looked solid in goal and Park-Ji Sung had a good debut for the Red Devils

Shall be looking forward to see what the rest of the sides can do today!

Come on Wigan and Stockport!

Finally!  I was getting bored with no football to watch!!!  Gah, I hate the time between the end of a season and the beginning of a new season...it's so incredibly boring.  I swear I was getting football withdrawel.

Anyway, not too sure who is going to win the Premiership this season though I have a feeling that the top four is going to be somewhere along the lines of Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.  I do have a feeling that Everton aren't going to do so well this season, but I don't know...the tables could turn again I guess.

Should be an interesting season, unless Chelsea win every match and win the Premiership once again (which wouldn't surprise me to be honest...)

I think if Liverpool havea bad season i think Gerrard may decide to leave...

But i expect Chelski to win again

You know, I wouldn't be surprised if that did happen...

I mean, he kicked up such a fuss not so long ago, and he said his heart was set with Liverpool and then decided to leave.  Of course, he obviously remembered that if he left, he'd no longer be the captain of the team who won the European championships.

I personally don't like him and I think he is a bit of an idiot.  I thought he was OK before he threatened to leave but now I just have a low opinion of him.

At least Rafa has admitted that he'd like Owen to make a return ::)

West ham did pretty well too!  :)

Players have a lack of loyalty, love and respect for their clubs  >( >:(

I wouldn't mind seing Michael Owen at United, because Saha isn't doing too well and Smith is being transferred to a midfielder

Couldn't agree more, and I have a feeling Gerrard is exactly like that.

I wouldn't really care if he went to be honest.  He's not that good ::)

Giggs and Keane are loyal

Seaman was loyal

Only time i dont mind players moving is when they don;t play much or if they have been there for years and years!

HE is better than Saha :P

I can't believe Chelski, did bugger all all through the game then score in the last 30 seconds!

Poor Wigan, was nice to see Mourinho not be an ass about it though!

Mourinho admits that Chelsea didn't deserve to win the match against Wigan...

From here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/4146060.stm)

Jose Mourinho admitted that Chelsea's dramatic 1-0 win over newly-promoted Wigan was "not fair".
"Wigan did not deserve to lose the game," he said after Hernan Crespo's injury-time goal gave his side victory.

"You could not tell who were the Premiership champions and who were the Championship winners last season.

"Crespo's goal was unbelievable and it was important for him on his return to the club. He is a hero because we didn't deserve three points."

While Mourinho was full of praise for Wigan's display, he had harsh words for his own players.

"I feel sorry for Wigan because with their commitment, spirit and organisation, they didn't deserve to lose," he added.

"We didn't play well. We defended very well. All our defenders were brilliant in difficult circumstances because we kept losing the ball in midfield and attack.

"I always accept it when an individual makes a big mistake but I can't accept it when you don't play as a team, when not everyone respects the tactical organisation."

Mourinho brought Joe Cole and Shaun Wright-Phillips on at half-time to replace Arjen Robben and Eidur Gudjohnsen and was pleased with the improvement.

"In the first half we were too slow and the players didn't look motivated and I told them at half-time," he said.

"If you don't perform you are probably out of the team, I will keep saying it.

"In the second half we improved a lot.

"Normally the wake-up call is when you lose. Today we had a wake-up call without losing any points."

Yep, I see what you mean about him not being an ass :D

West Ham won YAYm e very happy especially as we r second in the league. Ok ok I know its only the first game of the season and theres 37 more matches to go plus the FA Cup but we have made a good start. Our new player Yossi Banyoun is fantastic and even though Sheringham is 39 nearly 40 hes still quality.

FA Cup and League Cup actually :P

And there isa chance of West Ham players being involved in Internationals!

See, 1 game into the season and they gotta play international friendlies already!  >(

I would LOVE to see Anton Ferdinand at Old Trafford :P

Look how Lampard, Carrick, Cole, Defo etc etc have done, got a good youth system going which will keep earning you money :)

Didn't England play crap tonight...damn David James, bet the hammers are LOVING not having him anymore :P

Yeh our youth acadamy is fantastic but problem  is that they do end up leaving. David James was never that good  at West ham was glad to see the back of him when he left.

Like to see Ferdinand, Gabbidon, Etherington, Noble etc etc this season!

Also, you just loaned David Bellion off my beloved Red Devils :P

I was distraught when west ham sold Carrick but to Tottenham of all teams, Chadwick worked really well with sheringham last season but we've loaned him and stephen bywater out grrrrrr but never mind, think we have quite a good team, the year we was relegated we were just starting to put a great team 2gether and b4 u say anything yes we were relegated but we didnt lose our last 4 or 5 matches plus went down with 42 points the most a team has ever been relegated with all commentators said needed 40 to stay up.

I LOLed when I read that...

Well, apparently when they were doing some sort of "parade" around St James' Park, Owen didn't look too happy.  I reckon he's annoyed because Rafa didn't want him at Liverpool.  Though, I don't mind being a kopite.  I mean, look at last season.  We won the champions league and even though we only came 5th, that's still pretty good and we did that all without him.  We can do it again, we don't need him.

Thought I'd drag this up for this season

Going pretty well for United, Ronaldo is truly showing he is world class and Rooney is still dominating!

Looking goof for Ben Foster who got his first England cap, if only he had 10 good player playing outfield for him at Watford lol!

We sold Tim Howard to Everton.....still think we should buy a midfielder and Fernando Torres because if we don't keep Henrik Larsson we will be a forward down, unless Alan Smith can find match fitness....

Wondering what will happen to Guiseppe Rossi who is back at Parma on loan after a loan spell at Newcastle Utd

Hope that Chelsea fail miserably this season....

Shocked at the form of West Ham, bet ther chairman is having second thoughts now lol

Looking to see what Liverpool *spits* do with their new yank owners

So come on people....lets talk football!  :D 8)

Well when Fergie admits to the press he likes a player it usually means he is trying to sign him ;)

Can you believe we payed £750,000 to loan him for 3 months!!!! The money that goes around in football is crazy!

So what do you americans think about David Beckham and Posh moving to LA? Do you welcome him with open arms or with a shotgun in hand? £128,000,000 over 5 years  >( :o

I'm just watching Manchester City losing 1-0 to Preston North End in the FA Cup  :D 8)

Shush, well worth it considering you'll have most of the Celtic fans wanting to buy a Manchester United shirt with his name on it....not to mention the Larsson fans themselves...

He's a money spinner, and he's still got the touch!

Still, I do agree in general that football teams have a huuuuuge amount of money to throw around...its ridiculous...and footballers earn way too much!!

I think that Fernando Torres said he'd much rather go to Chelsea  :8o

Though there is a battle of wills going on...I think at the moment Manchester Utd have bid £25 mil, Chelsea have only bid £20 mil (tightwads).

This is looking up on this site here -  http://www.footballtransferleague.co.uk/football_player.aspx?football_player=Fernando+Torres (http://www.footballtransferleague.co.uk/football_player.aspx?football_player=Fernando+Torres)

Well itlooks like the Premiership trophy is staying in manchester

Still think United should sign Jack Rodwell or a holding midfielder in his mould, Berbatov should be sold as he clearly isn't interested in trying, he's happy earning his £80k pw doing very little, at least he's no Tevez hahahahahahha
