So, who else has succumbed and spends their days in a darkened room desperately scraping together parts for your latest engineering project ;)
there HAVE to be some of you, and if not, get it! and then come post here ;D
-
If you are a foul member of the horde then I'm afraid I'm going to have to insert a fishing pole where the sun don't shine :P.
-
ohhh you fishermen, you make me laugh, it amazes me that they managed to capture all the stullifying boredom of fishing inside of a CRPG, that's attention to detail ;)
and incidentally no, i'm not one of those ganking, corpsecamping, dirty playing and bizarrely organised beings ;)
-
Actually I don't fish at all, I get my mage friend to summon me food all the time :P
-
Im going to be frank here. I do not like World of Warcraft in the slightest. Ill give a few reasons why.
1) Why the Hell should you pay to play a game you have to buy in the first place. I get told well it stops young kids getting on and ruining it. But come on theres those tht dwell on WoW tht are worse then most kids. (Camping Scum)
2) The Level limit is far to high and the differences in a Lvl 1 and a Lvl 60 are too big. I mean come on half the LvL 60 think they own the place cause they can kill lower levels big wow thier clever. Poor low levels you should be ashamed of yourselfs Lvl 60s.
3) Fishing WTF is the point of tht if you want to fish why do it on a computer Hello worlds exists get out of them dark damp BO infested Rooms and get some fresh air. You can fish in real life you know.
Ok well theres 3 reasons why I dislike WoW and theres prolly more but Im tired and cant think of any at the moment. Hope this has made your afternoon a happier place. :)
-
1) The money is actually a small factor, I bought the game a month and a half ago and its worth every penny in my opinion and how exactly do you camp on WoW? I've seen people make camp fires and sing songs but no actual camping.
2) The point in levels is to keep you entertained and set limits. I mean if there were no levels than everyone would have epic items and the game would be dull and boring, You've got to invest time to reep the rewards.
3) The point of fishing is to catch fish obviously. You can then eat it to recover health.
And I was like you once, I didn't want to get the game even though I'm an avid warcraft fan because of the subscription fee but when I saw house awesome it was I bought it.
-
This games better than Online Star Wars Galaxies ::). My flibblin borther plays it and it looks pants
World of Warcraft = 8)

it's cool that you don't like it, but don't be so rude in future, there's no need for it.
completely agree with you about fishing, incidentally, but it's hardly the most vital skill in the game, i've never had any problems without it. as a put down for the game it's not exactly bowling me over.
i rather suspect that the subscription is for those little, trivial costs, like running bloody big worldwide servers, you know, i mean it's ridiculous what they charge, why those things must about run themselves! :o and camping, well, that's more a complaint about players really, that's not the game, that's the people in it, it's an important disctinction to make :)
and the lvl limit? that's just the play-style, the idea is that, when you put in alot of effort, you kick touche. now admittedly it's about as realistic as a cheap rubber haddock, but then what game isn't?
all in all, i do hope you're right, and can make better points, because i prefer my discussion's a little more stimulating :)
-
Lol, well my character, whose name is Blaen if you wish to add him to your friends list, is a lvl 46 rogue with bottomless funds due to the fact I have discovered a way to make to make huge profits using arcane crystals
-
Yup .. :) .. I've got the game too.
I was actually just thinking about starting a topic on it sometime soon because I was wondering if anyone wanted to meet up with me on it .. ::) .. It'll be such a laugh ..
Anyway, my character is a Human - Priest called Lucanío and at the moment, he's level 23 and this level is going extremely slow because I've just been travelling around to IronForge and Stormwind. ;)
So .. anyone else got a Priest?
-
nope, got a warrior, or i will have when i get a regular net connection again...give it another fortnight ::)
so what realms are you bodies on? am a darksorrow player myself, assuming i havejn't been so inactive it booted my chars :o
(actually don't know whether it does that or not so...)
-
I'm in Dreanor .. 8)
-
How did you get there? ???
-
Erm .. :-\ .. I chose. ::)
-
Interesting...Well I recently unlearnt leatherworking (I had already made myself the best stuff I could with it) and I learnt enchating instead :D
-
At the moment I've learnt Tailoring and Herbalism. :)
-
Ooh more WoW gamers :PP
I have a level 59 Gnome Rogue on Deathwing PvP. Member of the mighty Tanith First and Only guild 8) Also got a 49 Human Warlock and a 47 Night Elf Warrior.
*shameless plug time*

<£9 a month is hardly going to leave you pennyless. And unfortunately it doesn't deter kids - so thats rubbish!
*mutters* bloody kids *mutters*
As for the old 'why should we pay more for a game we paid for in the first place' counter - do you realise how much running costs are involved!? Blizzard need a steady monthly income to cover costs etc.
LMAO! Everyones gotta start at level 1 and work their way to 60 - that is, the aim of the game! You don't want to be killed by the opposing faction? Then don't choose a PvP server. Simple as.
Blizzard have now implemented an honor system which has helped limit the ammount of pointless ganking.
Although I was having fun yesterday killing level 45 undead mage with my level 60 rogue in one hit :D Ambush crit for 1401 - instant death ;D
3) Fishing WTF is the point of tht if you want to fish why do it on a computer Hello worlds exists get out of them dark damp BO infested Rooms and get some fresh air. You can fish in real life you know.
You can only get some cool items via fishing. Its not as useless as it seems.
I smell a Guild Wars fan here :D
So is anyone else on the Deathwing Euro server?
-
Nah I play on Azol Nerub myself. Havn't played in months though cos I'm too busy to resubscribe
-
I just started playing this a couple of days ago coz my bf has it and loves it. I currently have a lvl17 Night Elf Rogue and I love her, she's great! I have done some of the quests for fishing and got a lot of XP from doing them so they're good for helping level and getting items. Besides in real life I don't think you're likely to catch yourself armour of other random things as cool.
I took Tailoring and Enchanting, also pretty good at Cooking and Fishing actually ::) on Malygos server...that's my bfs one so don't have a lot of choice.
I even got an honour kill the other day coz Auberdine was under attack and I ran back, didn't know what the hell was going on though
-
Blizzard need a steady monthly income to cover costs etc.
That didn't stop them releasing Diablo II for free online multiplayer, Warcraft's I - III, Starcraft and the original Diablo on Battle.net.....
Sure, WOW needs a lot of servers, but so did DII, and it's still running after all these years almost perfectly.
Anyhow, I'll have to get a trial of it somewhere, because I flat out object to renting video games- which is now what we're doing when we purchase a PC game.....such is the power of the companies that hold the copyrights.

Oh come now. None of those games you mention above, hardly stress servers to the level that WoW does. Not to mention WoW is currently the most played MMORPG to date, with number of users surpassing all Blizzards expectations. If I totalled up the amount of time I have put into WoW, I would be astonished! Its the best value for money product I have EVER bought. No other product I own has been used so much. I won't begrudge Blizzard the measly £9 a month.
In fact, it probably sees more usage then my Sky digital, which I pay around £30 a month for!
Anyhow, I'll have to get a trial of it somewhere, because I flat out object to renting video games- which is now what we're doing when we purchase a PC game.....such is the power of the companies that hold the copyrights.
That's your perogative of course, though you deny yourself the experience of a truly great game. Allow me to be the first to tell you I told you so, when you do finally get round to playing it and are hooked ;)
-
Maybe so, but I disagree with the consumer not having ownership of the product they buy, merely license to it- it's just not right, not for the prices we pay for the privelidge.
-

How'd you figure that? :8o
I 'bought' the game, at full retail price, £29.99 or whatever it was. That product is under MY ownership.
What I am 'renting' as you put it, is the privelidge to play on Blizzard's servers and connect with others - something I find justifiable and reasonable - but then that's my opinion as I've played the game, I know how fooking awesome it is, and how I think its worth every penny :P :D
-
I'm not here from confrontation, why you're saying things in such a tone is unbelievable to me at this point.
However, I'll answer your question.....you ever read the license agreements? If you did, you'd read the contract between you and the distribution company responsable for the games publishment.....now, in this contract, it is stated very clearly and very aggressively that this is not "your" copy of the game by way of "ownership" but rather by license. Now, basically what that means for the consumer, is that that company has full ownership of the product, while you're paying or have payed for the license to play their product that they own. You own a CD Key friend, nothing more, nothing less.
In terms of legality, this means that you as a consumer are paying a lease on the game or other software, it is not yours, merely a license to use it, meaning that potentially the companies involved could do whatever they want to the agreement. In the case of a game such as World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Eve Online, and other such MMORPGs, this could have big implacations in the unlikely, but possible event of discontinued support for the games in question. Now, what would happen is that there is the agreement, which would have changed, but you have already electronically and digitally signed that you agreed to their terms, one of which is often a no-responsability clause in the contract that makes them non-implacable for the servers going down, or the game being unplayable due to anything but deliberate negligance.
Same goes for console games, you buy the license to play it, you don't own it. Therefore, this can be in theory potentially be exploited to kill the second hand video game market, or to make multiplayer gaming on the same computer illegal in that that would be breach of copyright and breach of license.
Steam is the biggest example I know of that is licensed gaming, you are authenticated by license, they can ban your whole steam ID if they want to, for whatever "legitimate" reasons they want, and you can't do a damn thing, why? Because the terms of service stated all this before you clicked "I agree"
But I digress.....this is all a mixture of personal opinion, theory and fact melded into a post, the very fact that we buy licenses, and not ownership of a product is worrying and can be exploited thereabouts all manner of loopholes and agreements can be created by a paranoid and panicing games industry frightened by loss of revenue and piracy.

:8o in what tone!? I'm merely saying how much I enjoy the game ffs!

That's all nice and everything, but whats your point? So I don't 'OWN' the game. And? You telling me that because of your standpoint on such an issue you now won't buy any games!? :8o LMAO
That's entirely your choice, but for pity's sake, does it really make a big difference? ??? You buy the game (or license :P ) you install/run it, play it and enjoy it. Makes no frigging difference to me if I don't 'OWN' the game.
Riiiiiiight. You think too much about this kind of stuff, obviously!
Anyway, I'm off to play WoW

in what tone!?
In the fact that everything you put down in both posts are in a mocking, almost pedantic tone that really shows nothing of interest to me except that you're irritated for some reason.....and that's fine by me, I'm not irritated, so there's no worries.
If you want to insult me, go on ahead, you'll get no rise from me, however my point is simply a response to your original question- "How'd you figure that?"
You'd rather that I ignored your question flat-out than provide a full answer to it?
My point was simply my personal opinion of the PC gaming world, one in which I'll not be a part of much longer. With the onset of a new, restrictive, censoring and expensive Windows infrastructure and many new computing laws that grant less power to the consumer, the PC as it is now will fast become my final upgrade. Consoles I don't mind, but PCs are getting silly.
whats your point? So I don't 'OWN' the game. And?
I answered your question "How'd you figure that?", that's my point- if you choose to mock me rather than accept my answer then that's your perusal, however, you do realise you're slandering me because I won't play a game that you like? Think on this.....and what that means towards yourself.
-

Um, I have no desire whatsoever to insult you. I don't even know you. I have no idea why you even believe I am trying to insult you. Please point out to me where I have 'insulted' you. I'm pretty sure I haven't said anything like "you're an ass" or similar :P Oh and that wasn't an insult by the way, just in case you think it was ;)
EDIT: Though on closer inspection, looking at your profile this morning, your e-mail address is very similar to someone who used to frequent the Blades-UK forum and was moderator. So maybe I do know you of sorts ;)

Sure you provided an answer to the question...and then some! I don't really have much interest in your personal opinion of the gaming industry.
You proved that I don't technically 'own' the game. Fair enough. I then went on to elaborate on how that doesn't bother me in the slightest as long as I'm still getting enjoyment out of the game.
*shrugs*
I answered your question "How'd you figure that?", that's my point- if you choose to mock me rather than accept my answer then that's your perusal, however, you do realise you're slandering me because I won't play a game that you like?
ROFL you're hilarious  ;D I really would like to know where you got this whole 'mockign me' thing from ::) And now I am slandering you!? ROFL  Sure, whatever you say mate.
Think on this.....and what that means towards yourself.
*ponders for a moment*
Hmmm..nah, can't be arsed. 8)

Sarcasm trying to make me look stupid; an obvious insult.

No need for that tone.

I was never a part of the Blades UK forum, I'm not a fan of the place.
There are more to insults than merely saying an insulting phrase such as "you're an ass" because when you mask your insults in sarcasm, you merely cloud it from people who don't notice it. But then, I'd say you've plenty of experience in this field judging from your style on here.
Anyway, we're completely f-u-c-k-e-r-i-s-i-n-g this topic, if you want it to close please continue.

I think everyone will appreciate this comic...

Note the mountain of money and human souls...Yup sounds like Blizzard to me ::)

That my friend, is an awesome piece of work. 8)

No. Sarcasm and insults are completely different. If I wanted to insult you, I would have just done it. I wouldn't hide behind sarcasm, why would I? I have nothing to lose by hiding behind it, so I would have just outright insulted you. However I neither know you or wish to insult you. Obviously you have interpret my intentions incorrectly or have some kind of insecurity complex where you believe my comments were insulting.
But anyway, LOL at the toon :P
-
They are not completely different when they are used in league with each other. You obviously don't seem to get it. Either that, or you're out to save face. Either way, this "conversation" is over.
-

Oh whatever ::)
All this started because I didn't happen to agree with your view on modern PC gaming. And obviously because I didn't agree, you didn't like it!
For the record, I don't know you, I have no reason to mock you as you put it, or to insult you. You were far too easily offended by my comments for some bizarre reason.
So as you say, this 'conversation' is over ;)
-
All this started because I didn't happen to agree with your view on modern PC gaming. And obviously because I didn't agree, you didn't like it!
Nope, it started because you decided that it'd be a good idea to get very sarky just because my post didn't seem to fit in line with what you think. It was a general comment on video games, and wasd not actually made solely at you. However, you took it that way, and proceeded for the next few replies to reply in a mocking tone, with plenty of sarcastic comments that many would take offense to, and strategically placed smilies just to add to it. I don't care who agrees with the fact that the games industry have the power over us at all, I do care when someone takes something so small as a post and retorts with a sarcastic barrage that'd make a Northern Irish politician look good.
-

Ah whatever. You are seriously boring the hell out of me now.
Think what you want. You're a tit. There. Hows that for an insult? Proper one for you! ;)
-
And you're an arsehole.
It's over.
-
And you're an arsehole.
It's over.
*applauds*
-
Well this is of little relevance to WoW ::)
-
When you think about it, it kinda is, because the amount of arseholes you get online is crazy, especially online. Counterstrike Source is the biggest example, it's a game you'd only let a 16-18 year old play nowadays because of the "Porn Spray" craze, besides it's an example of
"Arguing with someone on the internet is like mud wrestling with a pig. In the end you just get dirty, and the pig likes it."
:P  ::) lol.....so much for this topic anyhow. ???
-
If you were referring to me, I certainly hope you included yourself in your comment about the 'amount of arseholes online', because if I'm guilty, so are you! ;) :P
And for the record, I'm 24 8)
-
For the record, I give not a s-h-i-t.
I was referring to arguing online in general quite obviously.
It's over #2.
-
Actually this is very similar to an argument my brother had with someone in his group about whether gems should be Need or Greed, strange that.
-
Actually this is very similar to an argument my brother had with someone in his group about whether gems should be Need or Greed, strange that.
Gems you always roll greed!
Its usually either one or the other. EVERYONE rolls need, or EVERYONE rolls greed 8)
What's annoying is when people all roll greed except for one ninja looter who rolls need >(
-
Well to be fair my brother did need the Gem to be able to make goggles he needed for head protection. And also he didn't know everyone puts greed for Gems and infact neither did I because I always pass on them as I don't need them. But what was disgraceful is how one of the other members of the group overeacted like hell and then proceeded to roll need on everything else
-
**ignoring arguing ppls lol** OMG, I'm sooo addicted to WOW ... I've got a lvl 23 fighter who KICKS ASS and I'm addicted to Mining!!! The names Aslynn for anyone who wants to add me :bad:
~Jessi
-
Anyway ::)
My rogue just turned lvl 30 a while ago yayness!!! I was so happy, got kidney shot mwahahahahaha!! And I love my poisons, they make it so much easier. Does anyone have a fave class? I've only ever played my rogue but my bfs fave char is his 60 undead warlock
-
What is the rogue class like in WOW?
I loved playing rogue in EQ2, the snaek ability suits me down to the ground. (Must buy another month some time ::))
-
well, i still like my warrior, rogue is fun, but, it's too easy ;)
which server's are you all on?
-
ffxi is better
-
ffxi is better
agreed
-
phaw!
Guild Wars pwns WoW
Or some such.
Actually my lappy just can't play WoW, old graphics card and other when exploooded and all.
GW still r0x0rz. Egads I'm terrible at this.
Mesmers FTW!!!
(Don't even know what that means :[ )
-
Rogue is so much fun, jus coz of the stealthing about and getting in and out of places easily. I also have low level Hunter and Druid and really miss my rogue's speed. She's called Ethiwen (like anyone who knows me couldn't have guessed) but she's on the US Malygos server. When I get my own net put in me and my bf are going Druid and Pally on Alliance and 2 Shammys on Horde lol!!!
I'm still loving it. Can't wait for the expansion...jus have to hurry and get to 60. Atm i'm trying to get a group for Uldaman...grrrrr
-
I'm going to look like such an idiot for this.....but here goes- you ready?
I bought World of Warcraft.
:o
Yes, I'm shocked myself.....after sampling a 10 day guest pass, and having a level 20 Warrior within 7 days of it kinda made me think that MAYBE I just might kinda like the game.....you know, just a wee bit! ???
So yeah, after all that on the last few pages, I finally bowed down to peer pressure, to paying to play, and to trying out a game that I in the past opposed on principle.
And yes, I still have a few problems and my opinion hasn't changed with respect to paying to play games, and indeed on the fact that the four pieces of plastic in that £35 box are not technically mine, but hey. Given the massive profit margin of this game too, I expect their employees to be living in houses crafted from gold, and using money as a swimming pool (Ala Scrooge McDuck.) The frankly "Slap-in-the-face" pricetag of £35 + 10 a month......(£155 in the first year!!) has never left the back of my mind, but to be honest, with the lack of any PC games to play at the moment this has become less of an issue. However, considering the fact that I'm working full time and earning properly, I'm able to do this kind of thing without being too aggrieved.....I just feel sorry for the 12 and ups who can't play using top-up cards anymore because you MUST verify your details with someone's credit details, and likewise the people who can't afford to play.
On the game itself, my character's name is "Throedencaex" and is currently level 22, he has decent equipment but can't do damage in Warsong gulch to save his life.....he's a damn good miner and Blacksmith for his level and is addicted to the auction house. So there you go. :P
My main motivation for playing this and trying it? Counterstrike Source.
It was my main online game for years, it was my best PC game, it was the game I was best at in the FPS genre.....now however everything's changed- there's no honour anymore, no random knifings, no fun to be had, no friendliness, just a bunch of kids wanting to be men, talking crap.....yeah, I think I needed a break.
Well, I'm off to go collect my money from auctioning stuff, seeya- and try not to throw bricks, I just had this glass polished this morning. ;)
-
Evening mate ;)
Level 20 already eh? That's great!!! Well when I finally get the net I'm gonna hve to start all over again so no more level 43...what server you on? Maybe I can find my way onto urs :) Glad to see you're enjoying it, I cant stop playing it. I only meant to go on for a little bit and then 4 or 5 hours later I'm still on hehe oopsy!

I know what u mean, CSS has become way to serious. All I get is "join my clan?" all the time, I mean tbh all I want to do is play for fun. Until yesterday I had my fun server with all my knife maps on, now that was fun.
I want to play WoW but I just can't afford it yet :(
-
Evening mate ;)
Level 20 already eh? That's great!!! Well when I finally get the net I'm gonna hve to start all over again so no more level 43...what server you on? Maybe I can find my way onto urs :) Glad to see you're enjoying it, I cant stop playing it. I only meant to go on for a little bit and then 4 or 5 hours later I'm still on hehe oopsy!
ooh join darksorrow when you get the net up and running, and you edge, reroll, it won't kill ya ;)
-
Played wow had a level 60 , and a level 31, Guild Master of a Guild of 200 thoroughly bored of it . All the missions are fed ex or kill things.
There's no proper roleplay really.
-
Well I have net up and running yay!!! I have a lvl 11 on Bronzebeard and a lvl 20 on Kilrogg. Hey Varn, I cant have a character on every realm lol.
And can still have my rogue, she's lvl 45 now though for some reason I spend ages on her and dont manage to do anything ::) Think it's because I'm too busy talking to people :P
-
ahhh sure you can! can have NINE characters on every realm ;)
think i know what you mean about not managing to do anything, these days when i log on it's either for raids or to sit and chat for half an hour :[
-
Hey Darksorrow is a PVP realm is it not? I might start one later as I don't have any chars on PVP realms yet :P
There's nothing wrong with raids or chatting, they're the most social aspects of the game. Need to keep my rogue going to BGs coz she's gonna have dropped rank so much since I last played her...
-
gaaah i know! pvp sets are getting upgraded and i keep thinking i should make the effort now and get them, normally get bored half way through the grind and stop playing for yonks >.< yep, DS is PvP, which is rather cool, adds that wee bit of edge to it ^^

Leyroy Jenkins!
Post edited by Anne (who is hoping for an explanation as to who Leyroy Jenkins is)

note for anne's benefit
leroy jenkins is nothing, LEEEEROOOOOY JU-HEEEEENKINS! is a referance to an old old world of warcraft video, in which a paladin of the same name called it as his battle cry before charging off and making a dreadful pull, thus wiping his raid in a matter of seconds. give's rise to the term 'leroying', which is to, well, wipe the raid by doing something really stupid 8-)
as video's went, i think i preferred the internet is for porn, which cracks me up every time xD

lol that's a great song, really catchy! :D Well I just want to get her to level 60 and get the nice armor sets, the Tier 3 sets look cool
-
ahhhh the tier three sets look great! should be through BWL by then, and we're thinking of skipping AQ40 and going straight to naxx, so i may well be abl;e to get my mitts on some of it before the end of the summer ^^

hey Varny Varny :P what's your characters name? I might make a char on there so I have at least one pvp char. Well my druid is level 29 at the moment so I've been going to loads of BGs with her :D
-
Aeryc, well, on the rare occasion's i remember to log on and play ::)
-
:o so you'd let me go and make a char on your server and then just run away and leave me there on my own...shocking! You'd be the type of person to lead me somewhere just as a band of Horde come along and mow me down :P well I'll mow you *gets lawnmower started* hmmm too much caffeine eeeep caffeine running...out....*snore* :8o :8o
-
naaah, i hang about there, just seem to wind up working alot more then i'd like to recently ::)
go ahead and make a char, erm, and feel free to not equip them with a lawnmower, 'cos i'm feeling that 'trepidation' trip now ;)

I've just got an account on Warcraft now and it has already claimed my soul.. Dammit. It's my new Morrowind I think.
I have a female gnome character thingy, they're adorable! haha!

I'm quite a WoW enthusiast.........secretly!
Wish it wasn't portrayed as it is, then again a lot of people who play are really weird!
Anyone seen the South Park episode where they all get addicted to WoW?
-
I'm guessing since this topic hasn't been posted in since 2007 that nobody will ever see this post, but here it is anyways:
I LOVE World of Warcraft!! I can't stop playing.. :P I am a troll hunter, so yes, I'm Horde.. 8) Filthy cretin, I know.. ::) But Ally sucks butt.. :fr:
If anyone is interested in finding me I play on Nathrezim and my char name is Faerryn..

WoW is for pansies, WAR is for real men.
Waaaagh! :P
-
Well, considering I'm not a man at all, that works fine for me.. ::)

You saying I play it for the half-naked elf chicks? Yeah, that's why I play.. ::)
Actually, if I were to play it for any race, it would be male Draenei.. They're HAWT! The guy elves look kinda gay..
But I'm a Horde gal I guess the Undead are what get me on our side.. Sexy bones with tiny bits of skin holding them together..

I'm not entirely sure why you're posting only pictures, but whatever.. I'll just add to what's already here..

I was making a point! :P Undead elves, though i kind of did away with the "half"-naked part.
Purple hair is cool though :D
-
Oh, a point.. Well, it was totally over my head.. :P ::)
OOOOH, okay.. Got it.. -cough- But this is more what the Undead look like on WoW..
