Title: Belgarions Reviews
Post by: Ambar of Kotu on November 28, 2004, 01:12:55 AM
Hi guys. So here's my first sword review for you, as commissioned by spikie.

Hadhanfang - I've had my eye on this piece for a long time now. Of all the Lord of the Rings sword currently available, its always been my favourite, so I thought it would be the perfect piece to start off my collection. And it is! Its an absolutely beautiful piece. The blade is well made and nicely decorated with elven script and pattern. The handle is beautiful; made from dark wood and again decorated with Elven pattern. The stand that comes with it is also a very nice piece. It suits the sword and is very well made; no wobbling or mis-fitting as I have found with other pieces that I have. It truly is a work of art and I'm very pleased to own it. I've got a few piccys here for you too;

I would highly recommend this piece to any LOTR fans, especially those interested in the elves, as this to me really sums them up!

Next review will be the Staff of Gandalf the White. It arrives monday morning so I'll have that for you guys monday or tuesday. Hope this has helped anyone out.

wow! That's beautiful! :o :D I really wanted to get Hadhafang, it's my favourite sword from the film! I did get a sword for my birthday, but seen as my parents were buying it for me they put a limit on what sort of price range I was allowed. Sadly Hadhafang was too pricey :(

I must admit that I did think that the prices were high at first - not high on this site, but high in general. But then I though about how much more a sword like this would mean to me. The price wasn't such an issue anymore!

yeah me too

the price for what is basically, a display sword, does seem high at first..

but to be honest, once you have the sword, once you hold it and feel it, feel the quality and the beauty... its every penny well spent ;D

I bought some swords (not from BUK) but from somewhere near me, and they were pretty expensive and considering they are only display swords...you'd think they would be actually worthy in battle for the price you pay...

However, as EG said, once you hold them, feel them and have a good idea of what they're like, and then have them on display in your own home, it's then you realise it's money well spent :)

Well, my staff just turned up and I'm very much impressed with it. As a piece, its fantastic, but its also made very well so that makes it even better. I was a bit worried, because it ships in two parts, but when you screw them together the line literally disappears, so I'm very glad about that. The paintwork is perfect, with no blemishes or anything like that anywhere on the staff. As for the head, or crown, it too looks great. Its finely made and you can only see joins when you look right inside it, but even then they aren't overly noticable. Because the crown is metal, it does make the piece quite top-heavy, but when you hold it properly, and walk with it, its fine. The wall mount is nice too; I havent put it up yet, but it looks good.

So overall, I'd say that its a fantastic piece. I will add some pictures once I get my Dig Camera up and working again (sometime today hopefully) so keep watching this space for those.

I forgot to mention that I was getting this, but I'm going to put a review on here anyways. I bought this piece (the £85 one, not the cheaper one) as a christmas present for my girlfriend. Its a beautiful piece; excellently made and really does look like the one in the film. I know that she's going to love it!! I'd recommend this piece to everyone, as if you like it, you really won't be disappointed!

As I said on the staff topic, I'll take some pictures as soon as I get my dig camera working again!
Title: Belgarions Reviews no 4 - Anduril

So I finally got it!! After it being out of stock, and my money not arriving and whole other loads of grief, I finally got it on monday. And man do I love it! I have to say that this piece has become my favourite. It is an immense piece, and is fantasticly made. Its proudly hanging from my wall now. All of my friends have commented onhow nice it looks, and also how nice the wall plaque is for it, and I have to agree. It suits the piece nicely, and adds a final touch to an already great sword.

High high high recomendation here. Definately worth the money, and a must for any LOTR fan.

Got here today. Another fab piece from those UC peeps! I love them!!! hehe. A very small sword when its next to Anduril (which it is on my wall!) but it is made from the perspective of the full-size people. So whilst it may look like a real sword in the hands of a hobbit, in the hands of a real person, it is small.

But I'm not knocking it. Its a gorgeous piece. Was everything I expected it to be, and really does look like the film prop. The wall plaque is great again too. The fact that it is alot cheaper than some of the other LOTR swords is good too, and would make a great start to anyones collection.

So whats next for Belgarion? Well, Xmas overtime has ended so not as much money will be coming my way. But still, the swords will be being bought! The next things on my list are a Elven design ring, handcrafted by the very talented Hyllyn of Eldayn Craftworks (check out the main site). The very same man is also in the process of making me some LOTR styled picture frames to complient my growing collection. As for actual LOTR things, Glamdring is next on my list, along with the Staff of Saruman. I REALLY want Boromir's sword, but fear that that one will be some time yet. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

(P.S pictures coming soon hopefully. Individual swords and one of my whole wall. I have some interactive pictures in mind for that one, so watch this space!!!)
