Title: The Last Alliance
Post by: Anne on March 10, 2010, 10:52:15 PM
It's about time we had a really good role play.  Aragorn led the march to the Gate of Mordor and confronted Sauron's Mouth - but what about all the others who followed him?  How did they come to be there?

This starts a year before the battle - Frodo is celebrating his last birthday in The Shire, Gandalf has just escaped from Orthanc, Boromir has set out from Minas Tirith to ride to Rivendell.  Dark times are ahead.  Rumours are brewing up across the land.  Orcs are increasing in number in Mordor and have been seen elsewhere.  Skirmishes have been fought.  Questions are being asked, but no answers have yet been found.

And in a little village on the coast of Anfalas a young man decides he can't wait any longer.

"I'm fed up with fishing, with hearing the old men moaning about how it was in the good old days before the mountains across the Anduin starting smoking and rumbling.   No one ever does anything, they just talk.  I'm going to get some answers."

So he packed his bag (with dried fish) and set off north, to cross Pinnath Gelin, to see what he could find.

Name: Blane
Age: 58
Bio: Ex soldier/adventurer. Decided to spend his dieing days in the village off the coast of Anfalas. He is a mysterious, mostly hooded man, that keeps to himself and resents the sloth and apathetic nature of the majority of men in his village.

Lately he has been getting a feeling in his old bones, that something evil is brewing and the world is not how it once was.
Will he return to his routes and seek answers and resolution?
----------

Blane leant his back up against the outside of the inn, smoking his pipe. Gazing at the moon as it slowly dissapeared behind the smoke of the mountains. A suspicious look glazed his eyes, with a longing for adventure...

"Blane ... I wasn't expecting to see anyone before I ....  I ... err ...look, if my mother asks, just tell her I'm fine.  I'm nearly a grown man now, ready to stand up on my own two feet.  Tell her Matt can look after himself.

Actually, thinking about it, it's probably best if you don't even admit you saw me.  You know what she's like.  That's why I'm leaving at night.  Wish me luck, friend."

With that, Matt hitched his pack back over his shoulder and got ready to step out, but paused for a minute.

"Unless, of course .... look, this may sound a bit odd, but I'm planning to travel north to find some answers.  I know you've settled down here, but would you at least walk with me for a couple of miles?  Just for a bit of companionship, like?"

"Look kid, aint none of my business what you do, just aslong as you're sure you know what you're doing. You're guna find no friendly faces out there, I can assure you"

Blane removes his hood, revealing his weathered eyes, a scar across his left cheek. He pulls a match up to his pipe.

He hesitates, his head tries to hold him back but his heart longs to go

Blane clears his throat "Well I guess your mother will only end up blaming me if anything happens to you. I'd better make sure you don't do anything stupid, so ok, Ill come"
