Title: Question
Post by: Mojo Toner on October 08, 2005, 02:47:40 AM
I know this may seem like a strange question to most people, but can I ask for what reason you use php boards? This isn't meant as an insult or anything but I just wondered why.

we dont use php

we use SMF

I see you use Invision.  If I were you Id consider moving to SMF.  It has similar ideas, but because you can edit the script yourself, its MUCH more flexible :)

I didnt write the basic code for the forum SMF did.  But its free opensource code, and very adapatable.  Personally I think php a great medium to work with :)

and yeah. the link to SMF is at the bottom of every page on the forum

dont use a program at all

I just edit the files.  Start by editing the style.css

tho dont overwrite the default style, because if you get it wrong it will always be able to bring that back up

(and check out their community forum!  its very useful!)

(p.s how old are you ?)

editing the css is just the start, for basic changes.

and to create a new theme you need to create a new directory for a new theme.

you dont!

theyre only files, just like an image is a file

its not a change to a database,. or the creation of a database

theyre php files, like images are jpg files.... you just ftp or use the client software to upload them

Most probably she does. IT's not the only one, though, loads don't work: blink; dry; ph34r; wacko; wub; undecided; Drool; Tree; Elf; Horse; Nazgul; Boromir; Aiwendil; Samwise; Baa; Cow; Badger; Pirate; Kissy Kissy; and Parrot. All of those apparently don't work. Either that or it's me.
