Title: Larn's LOTR weapons review
Post by: Larnbowski on July 19, 2005, 06:17:39 PM
As those why know me are aware I took quite a fancy to the LOTR's swords a while back, and the most recent addition to my collection is the Boromir sword.

The weight is in the hilt so makes this sword very well balanced.  It's intended to be a single hand sword but I can wrap both hands around it no problem.  Its also very swift when used two handed too  8)

Here's some pics (sorry not the best quality)

It took me ages to decide on a spot to display it (as running outta wall space)  In the end I've decided to display it next to Glamdring.  I'm sure Sir Ian wont mind  8)

Up next we have what I like to call The Wall Of Strider (again sorry about the poor pic)

As you can see its my limited edition Anduril (number 428 of 5000) Ranger sword and Elven dagger

Now Anduril looks loverly I agree but its far too big to actually handle, the Ranger sword however is just perfect and for a time I was considering having one made by Rob Miller (chose a viking sword in the end though) Last we have the Elven dagger which I must admit  initially I wasn't that keen on, but I soon warmed up to it.

When displayed together though I think they look amazing  ;D

I'll post more pics from my LOTR's collection soon  8)

The sword of Boromir along with Strider's sword are probably the only things worth having from a purely practical point of view of course. They are the closest to something you could actually use without fear of breakage and or having to consider poking through the ceiling with it.

What's the weight of the Boromir's sword Larn?

What's the weight of the Boromir's sword Larn?
just over 2lb with most the weight in the hilt so its lightning fast and easy to handle

And I hate you too... having a limited edition Anduril....... :P
It is pretty sweet aint it. Too be honest though the sword itself is no better than the standard edition, its just the wallplaque that is much nicer.  I wouldn't go paying the silly prices people are asking for one though, around £600-700 last time I checked  :8o

Larnbowski I have combined your two posts as you double posted. Can you use the modify button in future if you nee to add something before someone else has posted. Thanks Lessa

Woa, nice collection you have there Larn! I'd love to be able to buy striders sword but its too expensive!  :( I have the FX Sting version though, got it as a bday present and its very nice.

I agree with you EG, Boromir's sword looks much nicer than what I imagined!  :sw:
